I wish it was still so. Since 2017, this is the law in Mississippi:

Got busted for it 2 weeks ago in Bay St. Louis on a golf cart.

In the before times, in the long, long ago, passengers could enjoy a cold beverage in a vehicle. There are a few states where that is still legal.

The problem is that, depending on the state's law, the driver could still be ticketed for having an open container in the passenger area of the vehicle.
