Why do cops have blue lights on but not flashing riding on interstate?

I live in LP and work in Port Allen. Several morning it’s really tight traffic and I’ve seen several times a BR SUV cop riding with a single blue light that stays on. He always gets in the left lane and gets right on your bumper to get over. I’m talking a line of cars all riding the same speed. Is he going to a scene with a blue light on not flashing?

Just a way to announce it’s a LEO vehicle without flashing that he’s traveling to an emergency.

Suppose to let you know of their presence but it’s pretty stupid in my opinion

He’s cheating. And, he's likely to cause an accident with people trying to get over. You really should videotape him and send it to the B.R. Chief of Police. if the Police Chief doesn’t do anything, when he does cause an accident, they’ll be evidence that it’s the fault of the Baton Rouge police department.

It's done a lot by several agencies, and not just in traffic. I see it downtown all the time, even while parked. Its announcing their presence without causing a scene.

More likely trying to get people to move over so he can get through. If you see a blue light behind you, you’re trying to switch lanes. It's natural human instinct, and they f*cking know it.

That’s dumb.

Its allows him to get cars out of the way so he can go 80 any time of the day whether there is an emergency or not

You're not supposed to be chilling in the left lane to begin with. It doesn't matter if both lanes are full, you're only supposed to be in the left lane to pass. LEO is actually doing the right thing from a procedural point of view here to make people get over.

He's trying to get the democrats out of the left lane holding shite up.

The flashing blinds other drivers at night.

Some don't get it and never will. Everyone in that line is "waiting" on the car in front. Held up by the king idiot at the front. Actively pass, squeezw through, or GTFO.

I see that with the off-duty security cops in my subdivision, but saw this practice years ago in Europe and the Middle East. American cops must've picked up on this practice.

Are you stupid? We’re talking about rush-hour traffic. When was the last time you've seen the left lane completely open so cars can fly by in the left lane during rush-hour traffic.

Look up police response codes.
It’ll explain why he’s running certain lights/sirens

I will say I do see cops with lights on and no siren and once they get past traffic they turn them off.

It depends on the type of call they are responding to.
