re: Why do businesses cater to one-half the population?

Businesses have been bamboozled into believing that twitter is reality, so their algorithms dictate that they do what twitter says or else they’ll die. The real numbers show that Twitter represents the opinions of less than 2% of the nation’s people, but businesses don’t realize they’re getting a seriously spiked and curated sample designed to amplify one specific niche viewpoint and make it sound like an impenetrable consensus.

What gets me is businesses, especially restaurants, openly campaigning for a political candidate. Have one here that has let it be known that they support a candidate with signs in the windows and other things. Yes I support this local person but man you are upsetting the other half. With Covid and restaurants needing all they can get right now, you would think people wouldn’t do this

Because rational people will see their current messaging and say “we’ll that’s just stupid,” but still show up and buy their shite. On the other hand, if they don’t toe the party line, they’ll go apeshit with boycotts and stuff.
It’s just a calculated cost-benefit approach.
