Great thing Seven Day Adventist don't have more power, they're the worst. Couldn't believe anyone supported Ben Carson.
I live on the edge of Collegedale, they aren’t that bad. Baptists here are way more judgey and more likely to try and convert you. SDA people are pretty nice and leave us be.
No Little Debbies for you.

Sorry, but majority opinion rules if you believe in democracy.
What a dumb argument. Someone mentioned previously some states have laws against sodomy and sex before marriage. Are you telling me the majority opinion is that?
Also, to counter your idiotic point, GA just recently enacted a bill called the mimosa bill which was approved in every county which brought it to vote by a 70/30 margin. It was the first time the bill was ever brought to vote and overwhelmingly passed. The same thing happened in SC in 2014.
The majority has spoken on these issues, it is the powers that be who won’t take action. Get out of here with your stupid if you don’t like it, deal with it because it is democracy.

How was the mom and pop liquor store scene?
I still eat Quaker oats. I knew some seven days and they believe in the literal interpretation of the OT.
Jehovah's don't bother me, they knock on the door. You answer, say "I was a witness but I was Disassociated from the church"
They will skip your house until another kingdom hall comes by.

Tried to get a beer at the Atlanta airport this morning at 10:30 on my 2 hour layover. Denied. Can’t drink in the freaking airport until 11am on Sundays. Bartender was being pissy bc half his tips were turning around and leaving.

Where do you find democracy in the US

I’m not so sure the majority would support these laws anymore
The "powers that be" make sure that the majority opinion on an issue lays down to the minority religious voters, at least in my county. We've gone through a couple of alcohol-related county referendums and, damndest thing, every one of them is scheduled to take place during an off-year election (odd-numbered years). There will be some minor voting day in the springtime that no one seems to know about (no local paper here) unless you're in a church where they make damn sure you know to go vote.
This isn't what happens at the state level, but our local folks are shady as frick.

Are schools now teaching that we live in a democracy? I’ve been hearing that more and more the last few years.
Sir, you live in a constitutional republic. Write that down somewhere.

People like to believe it is a democracy because that’s an easier pill to swallow than your representatives in government mostly make laws and decision without any care for the public interest
Hell people don’t even like democracy proceedings to pick a president if it doesn’t go their way

Whether it’s easier to swallow or not, it fiction.
Democracy would be a disaster.

State and local governments are democracies. Federally we're a constitutional republic. Blue Laws are not federal laws and are therefore democratic laws.

So people should be forced to follow certain religious observances even if they do not believe in said religion?
By the same thought, what if the majority was atheist? By your line of thought, they could vote to ban all religion. I’m guessing you wouldn’t be in favor. Democracy without guardrails can lead to some pretty evil shite.

Freedom of religion

every state has a constitution, a governor, and a house/senate. We also elect local representatives.
How bad has public education gotten? When the schools fail you, you’re responsible for your own education.

re: Why do blue laws still exist?Posted by Napoleon on 2/23/20 at 5:45 pm to wildtigercat93
Municipal and some state elections. Federal elections are Republic not democratic.

Yes, but some elections are items put top a vote, that's where you find a democratic proceeding. We are a constitutional republic. Few things are picked by majority rules. Generally we elect someone to decide for us.
