Sitting here in Key West waiting on my flight to board soon for DFW, the desk made an announcement that they need 12 volunteers to delay their travel due to weight restrictions for the flight. This one in particular is American Airlines. Are they trying to haul too much cargo which pays more than passengers?

Most everything requiring customer service and being on a schedule sucks these days.

So they don't know how many seats they actually have?

They said it was weight restricted which seems to me that they have too much of something extra, not an issue with seats.

over bookings

12 effing ppl though? Never seen that before. I’ve been on plenty of over booked flights but it’s usually just 1 or 2 ppl.

Flying isn’t nice anymore. Thanks to miserable welfare program disguised as “safety” called the TSA, overcrowded flights filled with trashy rude selfish a-hole passengers and worker shortage across industry due to Covid

industry that literally forced all of its best pilots to quit/retire because they didn’t want to get a useless bullshite Covid shot.

You pay a premium to get herded through line after miserable line with bullshite “thanks for flying with us we appreciate you messages” read by unhappy flight attendants but are supposed to be grateful for it.

They are mini cruise ships in the air

On a cruise ship I have my own space, and also beautifully presented food to eat.

Airlines are tiny cans with stale crackers.

without looking up that flight I can almost guarantee the weight restriction is due to the short runway and the outside air temperature, certain performance criteria must be met to assure a safe takeoff in the event of an engine failure on takeoff, flight is planned to meet these criteria and have enough fuel to complete the flight as planned if an engine failure doesn't occur

Those foolish passengers, buying tickets for seats on flights the airlines are selling. How silly of them.

I don’t think cruise ship is the analogy. More like overpacked greyhound buses. No luxury about it

How much are they offering? I'd take the $$ and drive to Miami for a night flight if it's over $1k

Once you go Greyhound, you never go back unless you’re:

1. Getting out of prison.
2. On the way to do something to put you in prison.
3. See the 2 above
