I always assumed he fell on the sword for his sons. They certainly knew what was going on along with many others. If he goes missing then the sons are on the hook.

I actually believe his sons. Andrew was a smart guy. Went to Penn's Wharton School of Business.

Half of their business was legitimate and that was the half the sons ran. They didn't even sign for their dad's bail and cut him off completely after he confessed to them and they turned him in.

But, that is just my gut and a judge's ruling that I'm running with here. Neither are concrete.

Agree. Also, it would be impossible to move in today's world. The Feds have a hand in the important world banks.

If I recall correctly he was thinking about running and then got wind of ppl coming to kill him. Supposedly there were 2-3 groups out after him. Its was go to jail or die.

He's a huge POS and deserves to be behind bars.

What about the people that ran the Investment banks that knowingly sold toxic, worthless securities - passing them off on institutional investors as A-Rated debt? What about the ratings agencies that rubber-stamped those investments, giving them salability?

Madoff conned the wrong people. I think he was smart enough to know this when he gave up.

I'm thinking this has got to be it. He knew he wasn't safe anywhere besides protective custody.

This, plus even if he did flee to Morocco his family would have been threatened.

There was a guy on American Greed who got to Morocco and was there for like 18 months and randomly just came back to the US and turned himself in. They suspected someone threatened to kill his kids who were still in the states.

Yeah he dealt with some dangerous people.

I've heard Russian mob was a major client. Those people don't follow any rules but their own.

I just don't see why he's off limits where he is now. I think something has gone on that has kept him protected (besides being in jail).

Must be in protective custody giving them information. He's certainly not in gen.pop. hanging out with gang affiliated people.

Maybe protective custody AND in a white collar low security jail?

I'd like to think if I did something really bad and felt extremely guilty for it, I would rather confess and go to jail than live with the guilt of knowing about all the people whose lives I ruined. Considering who paid for that 50 year old bottle of wine, it would only taste good to someone with no conscience.

He knowingly robbed an elderly holocaust survivor for years.

I don't think the man has too strong of a conscience.

Are you really comparing these schmucks to Bernie Madoff?

Frank Lucas had $52 million in the bank when he was arrested as well as $300 million in heroin on hand.

Kozloswki was worth around $800 million at his arrest.

Madoff was around $700 million
