Because despite the fact that most attorneys are highly competitive individuals and our society's obsession about win-loss records, a court proceeding is supposed to be, in every instance, a search for truth and justice. It's not supposed to be about who wins, but whether justice prevails. The better judge of success as a lawyer should be did you give it your all, were you the best prepared lawyer in the courtroom and did you represent your client vigorously within the bounds of the law.

It would also probably cause people with difficult cases to be denied good legal representation.
