Was Watching Red Dawn(1984) few weeks ago. I forgot about the tank battle in the valley when Jed(Swayze) watches in awe/horror with the Pilot(Boothe). That was his first glimpse of real war, not the one-sided ambushes them damned rebel Wolverines were conducting.

We had some pretty major tanks battles in the First Gulf War.

The wars in the Middle East are not being fought against a normal enemy. There are no points where the two forces meet in an organized fashion. Not only that, there are so many different "enemies" in the Middle East. You are fighting an ideology that is believed by many different groups and organizations.

There's very few battles that are on the scale of those in WW2. The 2nd Battle of Fallujah is the only one I can think of from the Iraq war that had a large number of people: ~13,000 Coalition forces vs ~4,000 insurgents. Most of the battles were a few thousand people tops. Compare that with the Battle of the Bulge where there were over 1 million ppl combined, or the Battle of Stalingrad with over 2 million participants.

It was pointless because we continue giving arms to the Saudis who funded 9/11 and provided the majority of the attackers. As long as SA continues to be the driving force behind Islamic extremism and the US continues to suck their dicks, nothing will change.
