When you’re in a great relationship, you don’t WANT to have lunch with an opposite sex friend. There’s just nothing to gain from it. You’re not interested in maintaining those relationships because every other woman is a crazy fricking minefield. Many people also love drama and love wrecking people who have it better. So being in a great relationship can make you vulnerable to rumors from people with poor judgement. You don’t want to give others any basis to start rumors.

Getting together with same sex friends is better because these are better relationships with upside. You’re less likely to be subjected to rumors.
