Y'all remember those big arse mastiffs at that bar on Perkins? Was it Uncle Earls? Was the early/mid 90s.

One of them was so big I could ride him (not that I tried!) and I'm not small.

Pretty sure those are only domestic dogs that have gotten loose and are wild.

I believe the opposite is true.

Dogs are the product of man tameing and breeding wolves.
Mating dogs to wolves will produce an offspring.

I doubt the sperm of a house cat will fertilize the egg as of African cats (leopards, tigers, and lions).

I don’t know the answer to any of this stuff but I know of a pretty hot woman that runs a program for Canids and y’all have given me a lot of material to fake an interest. I often wondered why the name had Canid in it.

Thanks OT!

The cat family includes animals such as house cats, bobcats, lynx, and the big cats like lions, jaguars, tigers, leopards, cheetahs, mountain lions, etc. But the dog family only includes domesticated dogs, wolves (the only big dog) and the wild dogs in Africa/Australia. Why is there such a discrepancy? Would hyenas be part of the dog family ETA: coyotes and foxes for parts of the dog family as well, still small though

You do realize that Grizzlies, Polar bears, etc are part of the Caniformia Family, with Dogs, wolves, etc????
