Have not followed this trial one second, and I have no idea what it's like to carry a kid, but
is complete bullshite to me.
It might be a thing, but to kill your kids is a wild side effect.
Also depression is a luxury. From reading the first few pages, it seems like she had all the help at her fingertips. That's a luxury. People with shite to do can't afford to be depressed, you have to get up and take of business and bottle that shite up like the rest of us.

Late to the thread but I saw two points raised that help put the insanity into perspective..
If she had instead strangled 3 puppies to death, almost no women would be defending her right now.
Imagine a world where Chris Benoit had not killed himself and then after his murder spree begged for understanding and claimed he was technically innocent. How many men would defend him?
Women really are completely fricked up.

There’s a better hypothetical.
If her “psychosis” had taken over while she was at work (a pediatric/labor nurse) and she murdered 3 babies there, who would be defending her?
A convenient point is that she’s had no history of hearing voices before or after the incident. Imagine if every murderer simply said they were temporarily psychotic and a voice told them to do it. That’s the precedent this case would create.

There’s a distinct difference in post-partum depression (that a lot of women have experienced after birth) and post-partum psychosis (hallucinations, attempts to harm ones self/others, delusions).
You can absolutely be sympathetic that someone experienced an awful mental health issue and still want them to be held accountable for their actions. Her defense isn’t arguing that she didn’t do it. She did.
Hopefully, this at the very least brings to light the issue and increases access to treatment.

quote:One of her problems was that she had too much access. She was going from doctor to NP to NP using different networks so they didn’t talk so she could get more and more drugs. She had a history of getting meds as far back as nursing school. Then it was for “public speaking” which is a joke. It’s the biggest fear in the country but you don’t require medication to do it. And not for fricking nursing school.
increases access to treatment.
She was even turned away by a few places because they felt she was just looking for more drugs and was already taking too many.

Because one person was abusing the network doesn't mean you should cut off access to everyone. Or that a clinician shouldn't seek out training to increase their competency working with women with post-partum. I've been grateful to see a lot of organizations making their trainings more affordable and accessible in the wake of the trial.
Also, your public speaking jab is hilarious. Doctors (not just psychiatrists) have been prescribing beta blockers like Propranolol for the fear of public speaking for quite some time. That's not unusual.

If you're running an inpatient facility with access to medical detox, you should be capable of admitting a patient to help with medical detox if they're taking "too many meds". That's the issue at hand here with the facility that didn't admit her.

She was denied admission to an inpatient facility that specifically dealt with post-partum issues because of the meds she was on. That's an access problem, not just for her.
Chances are if you're seeking treatment at that point at an in-patient facility for post-partum specifically, you're going to be on some meds.

It's really not. You just have poor knowledge of how often it is prescribed by legitimate prescribers.

Again, the facility denied her admission because she was on "too many meds". Any in-patient psychiatric facility should have coordination with a hospital (at least here in Kentucky, you can't even run an Intensive Outpatient Program without hospital affiliation) that would have allowed her to be admitted despite being on the "wrong" cocktail of meds (hence medical detox).
You're not even understanding what I'm saying because you're being so emotional about this. Touch some grass, buddy.

Hide if you ever run into her while she has the crazy eyes going

Please feel free to find and quote where I said that she isn't responsible or didn't do it.
Again, some of y'all are shite at reading comprehension and context apparently.

You’ve spent this entire thread defending her state of mind as a real thing for her. Your empathy makes you so easily manipulated.

Giving someone low-dose Propranolol on an as needed basis for anxiety symptoms (like when they're engaging in public speaking) isn't overprescribing. Are you a doctor, ell?

Postpartum is very real. My wife had it with our second and it was a slog to pull her out of it.
My good buddy never pulled his wife out of it. She went insane. They’re divorcing now. It’s been 8+ years of it, poor kid still wears pull-ups to bed bc she is insane and created all these weird rituals and routines to cope. Educated, very smart, gone completely retarded

Sometimes you really like that biting dog. Doesn’t change the fact that the dog needs to be put down.

I dont read the OT Lounge to discuss training.
I see weirdos supporting a mom that killed her three children and mentioning all these distracting words like training and access like they actually give a frick when what needs to be said is if she is so miserable she should have taken her own life if she finds it necessary to take life away. But she was too rational to know that wouldn't work out well for her. So shes also selfish.
