I've gone to the DMV twice and left after waiting for 2 hours. The second time I even scheduled an appointment but still left after 2 hours. DMV staff are awful.
I made an appointment and was done in 20 minutes.

How is that possible after all this time

Don't they cost quite a bit more than a normal license? If so, for me it's the being forced to pay extra, and to a government agency ugh.

The LA OMV is broken
So you have ti deal with them or pay extra. And even if you pay extra they still deal with the same system that is consistently broken

I honestly dont know what the big deal is... I like to travel for vacations a few times a year, and I also want it to be as easy as possible
Let the plebes be plebes, laugh at them, and enjoy an easier time

What rights have you "given up" by getting a Real ID? They are for 2 purposes only... flying and going into some federal buildings. They are obtained by producing documents... that you already have... so, since you already have these documents (except for that tard who went to court about his son's drivers permit and a social security number (or lack thereof)), haven't you, using your logic, already given up these rights?

I didn’t have a certified copy of my birth certificate. Had to go downtown to Clerk of Court, and order one, pay, and wait. I assume others don’t already have those lying around the house.

quote:Yes, that's the point. They incrementally chip away at our rights as not to arouse the sheople. Judging by the responses in this thread, it's working.

Oh it's just a few documents
But for what - how will I be safer flying? How will it safe me time. How will it lower my tax bill?
What is the value?

Hi Nabor on Jones Creek in BR did mine. I renewed my drivers license and got Real ID and was in and out in about 20 minutes.
Posted on 4/12/25 at 11:53 pm to thelawnwranglers
My license expired a couple months ago. I went to renew it and knew about the real ID because I don't live under a rock.
I googled what I'd need. I've got a social security card and a birth certificate at the house. I needed two extra documents showing my address proving I live in Arkansas. They take vehicle registrations(already in the car i drove to the dmv) and utility bills. I printed off my personal property tax bill.
Too easy. Went on a mid month Tuesday at 9:30 am. In and out in 20ish minutes. The documents they got were all government documents they already have.

I don’t understand the point of real ID in the first place.
