Why are people up in arms about Real ID?

Yet people regularly give up biometrics and information on their phone, online, in stores?
I've always had TSA Pre-Check so I've never worried about it but several on social media are acting like it is the end of the world.

Since this thing started everyone would have had to renew their license by now.. I did it to avoid any problems.. They didn't even look at my extra proof of identity.. Just do it and stop being a PITA..

I've gone to the DMV twice and left after waiting for 2 hours. The second time I even scheduled an appointment but still left after 2 hours. DMV staff are awful.

Beginning May 7 to enter any federal facility will require a Real ID. We do a lot of work on Barksdale and it's going to be a pain in the arse to make sure all our guys have them.

The shitty thing is that I got a new license about a year and a half ago and the topic never came up. I'd have just gotten one then if I'd have thought about it.

Real ID has been expected in Louisiana since what 2005 but it keeps being backtracked?

Not that people will want to carry around their passport like they do their DL, but I was just wondering.
