You've got to take inconsideration that most of the 65+ set lived through the 60's counterculture thing where being a hippy way pretty much normal for a lot of that generation---also my generation.
They went against the grain back then and then many of them settled down into conventional lives as they aged, got married, had kids and jobs. Now they want to relive their rebellious youth because we all know, when you get to a certain age, you just don't give a frick what people think any more. I know I'm there.
