well, I can tell you cause I lived in Smyrna, the mall went to shite when MARTA train service got close enough to get "culcha" in mass numbers to the mall. FTR, I'm speaking in reference to the late 80s/early 90s. But I can tell you it was a nice place with little/no trash prior to that.
Glad Perimeter is still holding on. I worked for Muses's Clothing company in that mall, while I was attending GSU. It was a nice place. Never ever saw any trash there. Not even in the food court

True that but unfortunately changing a lot over the last 5 years.

In the 1990s they were fun. 80s too from what I heard.
I liked it when they had unique stores that were associated with music, movies and overall weird shite.
Then you can walk to the food court, meet up with people. Etc.
Some malls had theaters and arcades which were cool.

East Cobb is still very nice.

Fully agree. Top shelf environment with no true malls. West Cobb nice as well. Both have the Avenues which do not attract trash like traditional malls do.

Cumberland went downhill when MARTA moved into Cobb County.
MARTA never moved to Cobb County. Most are hoping it will. I for one, would love to take public transportation to the Braves game.
You're a fricking idiot.

Probably a safe place to meet someone, I guess.

Malls were cool because before cellphones, teen cliques needed a set hangout spot to get together. Teens tend to not have a ton of money and can’t get into bars, typically, so meetup spots tended to be public places where they could spend time without spending too much money. Malls were perfect. They had ac, food, and lots of other cliques used the same meeting spot, so cliques could interact and meet girls.
Today, kids have smartphones and can access one-another 24/7. They can decide where to meet up at a moment’s notice and flake on plans just as easily. There’s no need for a set meeting place to find your friends when you can just message them from anywhere. Without the promises of potentially meeting other cliques (and thus girls), there is no longer any reason for teens with means to loiter at malls. The only people still loitering are poor folks who cannot do so at home.

Same deal with North Fulton/Alpharetta/Roswell. That area remains mainly trash-free.

Most malls are dying.
One exception is Lakeside in Metairie.
It is one of the highest grossing malls in the nation.

I went to Gwinnett Place earlier this summer for the first time in 20 years. Talk about depressing.

That place needs to be razed.
