The Williams Tower is pretty cool.

I have about as much interest in living in Houston long-term as I do in living in New Orleans long-term, which isn't much.

I’m sorry you’re miserable.
I hope one day your quality of life gets better and you find happiness.
I can’t imagine being forced to live in a city that you hate.

On a side note, wife was never about sports. She knows who Archie Manning, Drew Brees and Tom Brady and that is about it. She hated going to Saints games in the Sugar Bowl with her dad who had 50 yd line seats from day 1.
When my son graduated from Oklahoma the spring after LSU beat them in BCS. After LSU's win, she picked up a lot of LSU BCS Champ shirts and stuff thinking he would like it because guys like sports, so sent a "care package" to him with all of that. He called me groaning and complaining. I laughed my arse off.

Looked great in my rearview mirror. Can’t even say that it’s a great city to drive through as traffic sucks.

I thought you lived in a one bedroom townhouse with your cats in Cico Ranch?

The people that pay for private school here do so because they want to live in the city. You can move to the burbs just about anywhere and find decent schools.

I’ve lived in a few different states for work in the oil&gas industry. Been in Houston 10 months now, and I think a lot of it is nicer (infrastructure, schools, stores, neighborhoods) than back home in New Orleans. Food is better than most places I’ve lived (except New Orleans) but they do have a bigger variety than NO.
With all that said, I would rather be back home. I also work with 5 different Louisiana people and they all wish they could move back home. Only thing keeping me here is the money and the jobs. Hope to cash in a few more years here and move home and take a pay cut. At least that is the hope.
Can’t really say anything bad about the area except the driving is worse (more aggressive at least). Still a lot of things to do here and a nice place to live.

I lived in Orleans, Jefferson and St. Tammany parishes from 2007-2012. Never had a overwhelming desire to go back for good.

If I wanted authentic cuisine, old buildings and public urination I could have stayed in fricking Mogadishu
