Houston is full of chains and Texans, what is there to like about that? It’s one of the most culturally void places I’ve been, which is shocking because of the amount of different ethnicities in the city.

Many people from GNO are similar in that respect.

doing it wrong, btw, firmly believe there wouldn't be a Houston if the air conditioner hadn't been invented

I know a shite ton of people that HAD to move to Houston because either they were transferred or their job gave them a promotion and they reluctantly went and after a few years moved out of Houston.
I also know quite a few people that refused to move and just found another job.
There are those people chasing a pie in the sky so they think by moving to Houston from Cutoff will make them a big shot, they after a few years they realize they are still just a small fish in a big pond and move back to Buras.

I don’t need to move.
Sorry you had to move to Houston to make yourself feel important

when I graduated it was during an oil boom and I knew several people that got good jobs in Houston right out of school, don't recall anyone that didn't try to get back to La asap, when the oilfield went bust I knew more people that just said FU to the o&g bidness when the only option was to go to Houston or get laid off, rather than move to Houston
ETA: have a friend that recently retired as CFO for a huge energy company, that sent him to Houston a few years ago, couldn't get out fast enough, transferred to Charlotte, the company asked him to go back to Houston a couple of years ago and he told them he'd go as far as Lafayette

Louisianians hate things better than what they have and since they really don’t have any nice things and Texas has a multitude of nice things and they are right next door so it’s basically neighbor envy.

The woodlands is the success that Mandeville and Covington attempted.
Your post falls apart when mentioning Covington imho.
At no point has Covington "attempted to be the Woodlands." In short, apples and oranges.
As for Mandeville...I feel that is a more appropriate comparison. That being said, I would choose Mandeville over the Woodlands. My take:
NOLA's food scene is better than Houston's food scene.
The Saints are my team...
The Tigers are an hour away give or take.
Both cities have the NBA.
Pro baseball is boring.
The schools are great in both spots.
"Culture" is limited in both
Mandeville has the lakefront
Festivals are always popping in the area (Nola and Covington are close by).
To me, the Woodlands is essentially a very large subdivision (extremely nice) that will see its property values continue to increase as a result of its proximity to Houston and it's robust economy. Just my .02.

people move to houston for economic reasons, and that's fine. i would never shite on that.
seems like they have a hard time admitting it though.

Is there a boil advisory in New Orleans today?

Houston a great place to live, not to visit.

Not that I’m aware of and even if there was it wouldn’t change the way I go about my day. So honestly I wouldn’t care.

Houston is what Laffy wants to be and acts like it is.
I lived in Houston from '83 to '90. You can buy twice the home for half the money outside of Beltway 8 than you can in Baton Rouge.
New Orleans is a great place to visit but a shithole to live in.
Everyone I know preferred Kingwood or Sugarland to Woodlands. I lived in Memorial and loved it there. Public schools not named HISD are on par with the best private schools in Louisiana.
Houston is the center of the world for drilling, refining and petrochemicals technology. If you don't have an office there you are NOT a player. It is far easier for an entrepreneur to be successful in Houston than anywhere in Louisiana.

Why the hate?
Because people Who don’t have to live there have experienced it.

Dude, the OT thinks there’s an appreciable difference between sub-neighborhoods in BR yet they think a greater metro area almost twice the population of LA is homogenous enough to “hate?”
