I wouldn’t say hate more than it’s just calling them out on their bullshite. Some of those guys graduate high school and are able to slide in as an operator at 19 years old and 100k because daddy is a toolpusher for BP, Exxon, etc...

They then buy every truck, toy, out of his league trophy wife, gun, boat, side by side, camper, 200k double-wide, 35 acres of property, travel ball shite, and matching New Iberia cuts for him and his 4 boys. Some earn 150k a year or more and have 138k in bills. They live it up and enjoy the hell out of themselves. They post Facebook pics of them and their old lady & kids in Destin. Constant F250 flex and living it up. Hell, I’ll admit I get a bit jealous. Wife and I both went to very good very expensive New England colleges. She has a Master’s. We’ve never been able to afford to do that kind of shite and whatever, that’s the lifestyle sometimes. I’ve enjoyed a career post military where I’ve done M-F and 9-5. Those guys work a ton of hours.

My problem with the baws is after spending years of gloating about the kind of money they make, driving around with the loud Jason Aldean blasting, the truck stickers (and Nutz), the $1000 a year deer hunting clubs, after ALLLLL that above listed shite they’ll all start crying on Facebook about how the oil industry is not fair and how inexcusable it is for a volatile industry to behave in a volatile manner. They start posting about how the Government is supposed to swoop in and save them. All these baws that post “cum and take em” memes about their guns allllllll of a sudden want some of that good ol gub’ment in their lives. Bottom line is don’t flex your arse off during the good times with all your expensive shite if you can’t handle the downturns.

Dude there are millions of people who are getting boned by this drop in oil prices that are highly educated and trained

I’m not complaining about it at all but quit pretending that the few 20 year old roughnecks you see flaunting their 60 grand a year make up the entirety of one of the biggest industries in the US

ETA: dude your post is completely unhinged

Super sorry you had to go to “very good very expensive New England colleges”

Seems like a lot of here don’t people realize how many people work in the oil & gas industry and are just normal people, not the OT stereotype.

And of course I know that. While I don't feel horrible for the O&G guys, I know that low oil prices are terrible for the state I love. I want oil prices to go back up just as much as the next person. Maybe not up to $90 dollars a barrel, but still. My only point in commenting in this thread was that I don't feel terrible for the O&G people because they picked their industry. And just like every other industry it has its ups and downs that you have to live with.

My dad has an engineering degree and worked in O&G most of his life. Look man, I'm not trying to be an a-hole to you or anything but things like this have more of a trickle effect than I think you are giving it credit for is all. I work in IT and not in the O&G industry btw.

Not gonna lie, I’ve seen this myself. I live in South LA and have worked in the industry previously. Not all, but many of these guys have nothing but a high school education and they cannot handle money or a budget. I knew guys driving $70,000 trucks with $35,000 bass boats and living in $30,000 mobile homes.

I knew a guy that didn’t even graduate high school, and couldn’t spell “cat” if you spotted him the C and the T, that was making $200k/yr as a casing pusher.

I remember that you work in O&G from previous posts, and forgive me if you don’t fit my above description; but it’s not just 20 year old oil baws acting like that. The area of Louisiana I grew up in has 45 year old baws behaving that way all day long. Hey, if they enjoy their lives then that’s cool. They work a ton of hours and should enjoy themselves. But they should also not be standing their shock-faced and crying when the bottom falls out every few years.

no one is saying that's the case. the thread is titled "Why all the hate for oil field baws?"
sometimes members of groups are stuck with labels and stereotypes that don't apply to them and aren't fair. vocal minorities and all. that's life.

it's really not that hard to understand.

Yes it does, because those people spend money like Grant going through Richmond. It effects every single business here in South Louisiana. Every business.

I do not understand the issue here, tOT hates every single profession. If a person or a profession can't stand getting shite on from time to time (or all the time) there are safe spaces on the internet for them but it sure the hell ain't tOT.

Appreciate you giving me a fair shake

But there are a massive amount of folks that work in O&G that aren’t your typical live paycheck to paycheck making 200 grand a year baws.

I worked in the field for a hot minute and met plenty of those. Be it roughnecks, motorman, drillers, pushers, MWDs, Company men, or DDs.

But on the whole in O&G (including office folk and support and contract folks and all that) there are way more regular folk than those douches. Although the ratio might be a little higher

I very much understand the trickle down effect that low oil prices have on the US economy. It ends up effecting almost every industry if it persist long enough. All I was saying was that I picked an industry that doesn't directly hinge on the price of a commodity that is largely influenced by foreign countries, so I don't feel over the bad for O&G guys when things go bad. Just like I'm not jealous of them when things go good.

frick all of you pieces of shits.

Tammy Lynn and I will be just fine, with or without your sympathy. You retarded, college educated losers can eat a dick if you enjoy families being torn apart for something that is out of our control.

I've still got an 8" dick, 3 ATVs, 4 boats, a king ranch f250, and land that I can sell if things stay bad for longer than a month or two.

So, frick off, losers.

Maybe the guys that hop from job to job and work turnarounds. I also think there are plenty of college graduates that had stable careers that are impacted.

I'm not saying one is more important than the other but simply that the OT classifies them all as some field hands that made a 16 on his ACT but have a nicer truck than they do.
