Two reasons:

1) social media and the news hype shite way out of proportion for clicks and ratings

2) a good percentage of our population are sedentary fatties spending way too much time on social media.

Number one societal problem.

Most people aren't intelligent enough to handle it.

This is the first time I have seen this listed as a system for Covid.

West St. Tammany is in a world of shite right now as it seems like an inordinate amount have people have a horrific case of the trots.

But now even those with comorbidities are not dying from this variant in high numbers. In the last year, in addition to the vaccine, our healthcare providers have developed treatments that have drastically reduced the death rate from the virus. Look at the numbers. They don’t lie. Large numbers of people are getting the variant. But, unlike in the past, very few are dying.
Death isn't the only potential negative outcome of getting COVID, for individuals or society.

Pretty sure the government is losing money on this pandemic bandit, good try though! Do you get all of your snappy one liners from Tucker Carlson?

The government isn't losing money. It's printing money, which is worse.

Its also gaining power, which is the real issue.

What science is there to justify such actions?

It is called democrat science. "Follow the "science" when said by a democrat means that any claim they make related to science will be completely false, but they will expect you to believe them.

Why all the fear and angst? For Starters, Democratic voters are fairly stupid. When your whole political outlook - hell, your whole approach to life - is based on feelings, it makes it very easy to be manipulated. It makes those people who live in a fear orgy feel better to display to others just how worried and concerned they are about whatever crisis they've been convinced is real. Doesn't matter if the reason is complete bullshite like the Chinese Flu or man-made climate change. The fact they're WORRIED TO DEATH! and IN THIS TOGETHER! makes them a better person than you. You are selfishly protecting your freedom or livelihood and dealing in mundane facts. They're superior to you.

And in New York, which was the epicenter of the pandemic, the seven day death average sits at a whopping SIX.

Gee, you think that might have something to do with more than half of NYC being fully vaccinated compared to the first time around with no vaccine?

People who focus on “death” as a measure of success (“but did they die?!?”)
apparently are clueless about the post viral crap that often comes with COVID.

True, Democratic governors could lock down their respective states and finish off the small businesses that somehow survived round one.

Why all the fear over the “Delta” variant?

Can’t speak to where you live, but things in Southwest Missouri are extremely bad right now solely because of Delta.

There are 2 hospital systems in Springfield, as of this morning Cox has 180 COVID+ patients and Mercy has 145. Cox set a record number yesterday for the entire pandemic. Upwards of 100 deaths at Cox alone in July, including 11 under the age of 40. 97% of current inpatients are unvaccinated. 100% in the ICU are unvaccinated.

They’ve sent out 107(!) patients as far as KC, Omaha, StL, Tulsa, and even Dallas because the *additional* COVID unit is over capacity.

Cox has used 5x their normal rate of O2 in the month of July.

A friend back home had to wait in the ER hallway for 24 hours last week before she got a room as she was going into sepsis because the hospital is full.

Delta blew up here in SWMO before anywhere else in the country and it’s being used as a warning sign for other places with extremely low vaccination rates. That is why there is fear over the “Delta” variant.

Have you seen anyone with chicken pox lately? No, because we have a vaccine for that.

smh

Chicken pox and COVID aren't even remotely the same.

Contrary to what Biden and Fauci want you to believe, vaccines aren't going to get rid of COVID.

Exactly. Another reason why "Go out and get sick" isn't good advice for everyone, especially as that shite is threatened again.

As an autistic, I have the advantage to shrug off ancdedotal stories on both the vaccine and virus

Truth is in data. And the data shows delta is far more contagious, and far less lethal

Data shows vaccine is extremely efficient in saving your life

No matter how many individual stories you hear to the contrary, it just isn’t backed up by the overall data

What is the current survival rate of unvaccinated people that contract Covid in the 12 year old to 79 year old age range?
