People really do this like there’s going to be a food shortage?

It's not about a food shortage. It's about limiting the need to go out in public during the worst of a community outbreak. Breaking the chain of transmission in an outbreak is vital.

I know CDC has recommended that healthcare workers caring for a suspected COVID-19 also wear eye protection (googles, face shields, etc) as well as gown, gloves, and N-95 mask or PAPR hood.

As for the other masks mentioned (n-100, etc that are used for industrial/construction purposes vs healthcare purposes)....I don’t know anything about those.

Another thing about the N-95 masks....they aren’t meant to be worn for long periods. Once they are soiled....they need to be discarded. You also have to make sure you wash your hands after you take them off....cause if you are exposed to someone with COVID-19....you’ve just touched the outside of your mask and can contaminate your hands now. And then touch your face and there you go....you got it.

Biggest thing you can do....wash your damn hands like you should. Don’t touch your face if you haven’t washed your hands first.

Eta: I was just at AZ infection control nurse organization meeting yesterday. They mentioned that they think coronavirus can live on surfaces for up to 9 days. And it is possible to get COVID-19 by touching a surface with the virus and then touching your face.

One of the nurses from another city in AZ at my meeting yesterday mentioned that their hospital has had to lock up all their N-95 supply cause random people were stealing them from the PPE cabinets in hallways. She also said people have gone in the hospital and taken entire boxes of regular surgical masks from those stands that are usually at the entrance of many hospitals now (has tissues, masks and purell dispenser) and then ran out to their car and taken off.

Anyone have any reports on the people who've had the Corona and are fine now....have been treated or whatever? Are they like super humans with superior resistance to illness now, or are they permanently damaged in some way? All I've seen are news about numbers of infected people and some deaths...not a word about anyone that has had it and gotten over it. Same shite they do with the flu every year...act like it's the end of civilization and present numbers of those who've had it. You never hear about those who have had it and are fine now.

What ever makes you comfortable but make sure you focus on surfaces if this thing pops up in your area. Touching contaminated surfaces and then touching your eyes etc.

Was hands——wear disposable gloves when out —-clean surfaces..... this is really a concern if it pops up in your area ....
And it is 25 times more deadly than the flu.
Hopefully that drops because it hit the older Chinese population which already had compromised lungs due to smoking...

Correct, but the N95 masks are not surgical masks.
