I had an exhaust leak in a Mazda, and took it to the old Royal Mazda in Metairie. Estimate was around $160. I left the car with them.

Service manager calls late the same day and says 4 of 5 bolts broke when removing the exhaust manifold, so the repairs will be $750.

I went there and asked to speak with the mechanic who worked on the car. The mechanic told me 1 of 5 bolts broke, not 4 of 5.

Price came down to less than $300.

Drove through flood water and bank B stopped firing.

Took to dealership and they said fuse box needed replacing. Ok so they change it out no big deal.

Get vehicle back and same day check engine light comes on showing a misfire.

I spend the next few days throwing cheap fixes at it because I hate dealerships but I can’t seem to fix it. I do a hot soak and change out some sensors but no luck.

Finally I decide to bring it back. They do a hot soak lol and clear the code. Check engine light turns back on.

Then I proceed to continue throwing cheap fixes at it. I change spark plugs, coil packs, and cables but still no luck.

Finally bring it back again and demand they run through everything again because at this point I’m 99% sure it’s an electrical issue.

fricking morons call me back the next day and confess that they accidentally reversed injector cables 6 & 8 when they changed out the fuse box.

I managed to get a few free oil changes out of them and have avoided them like the plague.

All star Ford Denham Springs. I brought my truck in for an oil change and asked them to check to see if I needed a front end alignment since there was a slight pull to one side.

They called back and recommended the alignment so I told them to proceed.

Fast forward, I pick up the truck. As I’m reviewing the service paperwork I notice the numbers on the alignment are exactly the same, before and after. Like to the 3rd decimal place. So I inquire why did they align it if there was no need. Lots of hemming and hawing that culminated in “well you told us to do it so we did it.”

Eventually the service manager was involved. The dummies had already given me the keys before I paid. I told them it was real simple, I’ll pay for the oil change, but you’re gonna eat the alignment… or I’ll walk out and you can eat both. That MF argues with me for another 5 minutes, brings out the technician to cry about paying for his time, etc. I turned to leave and he comped the whole service.

Dealerships are shady.

Jr. brings his car into Lafayette area Ford for warranty work at appointed time. They don't look at it for two weeks!
He was young and sucked it up...They did fix the car though.

pinhole in tire they never could find. Decide thy would give me a brand new tire. They ordered the tire, then did an oil change and tire rotation. Of course when I brought it to mount the tire, they changed the wrong one because they were rotated. Ended up with 2 new tires

Same dealership in Covington stole both my Saints floor mats and my coworkers change from his center console.

They tried to say I dropped the truck off without floor mats. I said I was towed to the dealership from the side of the fricking interstate do you think I just tossed them out for shits and giggles? They ended up "finding" my mats on camera and claimed that they were removed to vacuum the truck and never got pt back in.

Coworker never got his change back

This is at royal nissan on Airline.

My wife had gotten her tires replaced and within 10k miles or so, got a nail in one of the tires. We opted to replace it with new in-kind to existing three tires that had plenty life left. They were a high-ish end Dunlop sports tire and weren't exactly cheap, but we liked them and had good life previously.

Brought car to service center, requested the in-kind tire, and got the run-around on job completion for about 3 days. Eventually they say it's ready and wife goes to pick it up.

The service center had actually installed a cheap-arse knock off brand tire, I saw it when she got home. I brought the car back, showed the dealership manager the charge for the in-kind replacement and then showed him the knock off they installed. Service manager tried to tell me that the $100 dollar tire they installed was actually a better-spec model that was not sold online. I said bullshite, got my cost reduced to the actual value of the tire they installed, and chewed arse the whole time in the showroom.

That's the only bad experience I've had but man I was pissed

Took truck in for steering module issue.

Was told part is on back order.

Part arrives and is installed.

Was told part is defective, bc it will not program, and another one will be ordered. (This is where I should have told them I was picking it up.)

Waited two weeks, called back, said it was still on backorder and they would get back to me with the expected ship date in a few days.

Got busy, but called them back the next week. Part is on backorder with no expected ship date, sorry we forgot to get back with you.

Told them to make it drivable, I was picking it up until the part arrives.

Pick up truck (and pay warranty deduct. for the incomplete warranty claim) Have more errors, lights, dings, etc on the inst cluster.

The above time does not account for the days/weeks they were scratching their head and talking to engineering on the phone, etc. about why it won't work.

Get home, fire up Ford FDRS/FDS (I pay for a dealer account for my other vehicles not under warranty, if you don't know this is the software Ford gives the dealers to flash/diagnose your Vehicle), and get the codes.

Look up the Ford procedure / programming steps / gotchas in the service manual for the truck.

Follow the exact procedures Ford has in the service manual for replacing the steering module on this truck.

Finished by reflashing and calibrating the module(s)in the correct order.

The truck is completely fixed and passes all Ford digs.

This fiasco started 9/25 (somewhere around there was when I dropped it off) Got the vehicle back 12/5. If they had a decent tech on my case, I could have been in and out in three weeks.
