What is the OT's position on organic foods, homeopathy, and anti-vaccination? Few members of my wife's family are into all of this stuff and extremely outspoken about it, always cooking bizarre shite when we go over to eat, will only eat at certain weird places and always ordering weird shite not on the menu/annoying the restaurant staff, etc. It's getting to the point where I don't really want to hang around them, don't want my kids hanging around their unvaccinated children, etc. I understand the intention to be healthy and to try to live a healthy lifestyle but it all comes off very smug and preachy. Looking forward to some well thought out responses.

Should add that I am not into any of this stuff, I eat relatively healthy and exercise but just don't enjoy being lectured on how everything I eat is shite by people who have no medical training or background at all.

Anti vaccine people are fricking idiots. No problem with people eating whatever weird shite they want; doesn't have any effect on me and if they're happy then good for them. Anti vaccine people though have the potential to effect many others with their stupidity.

Unvaccinated kids around your kids? Hell no. That right there is a good enough excuse to never see their smug stupid faces again.

Did you see in the news where Whole Foods was being cited for some kind of unhealthy practices? (I'm too lazy to look up links. You can google.)

And I've noticed that a lot of the food recalls lately have been for so-called healthy granola type stuff. Food labeled as organic is just an excuse to charge hippies more money.

People into that stuff often are very outspoken about it. If it were all worth believing they shouldn't have to act that way

I am a fan of buying organic for some , but not all, food items. I don't bring it up in person unless asked directly.

Anti-vac's people are fricked up.

What kind of food are we talking about? How annoying to wait staff?

Are they asking to change a bunch of little shite on the menu?

We have it so good with cheap and nutritious food in the US that some people will buy into this utter bullshite to maintain their feeling of superiority. It's entirely a placebo effect IMO.

I don't do this but i have no problem with people wanting free-range chicken and what not.

Chicken plants are some dirty shite holes. I am just too cheap to spend the extra buck or two.

I don't have anything against organic but half of it is probably a scam.

I'm for organic foods although not all foods need to be organic in order to be beneficial

Antivaccination is the dumbest idea ever

organic foods

The labeling system is incredibly misleading, and many organic foods have just as many pesticides as foods from other farming practices. There isn't really any scientific evidence that organic foods are anymore beneficial.

homeopathy

It really depends on what you are talking about. There is research that shows herbal remedies and other natural forms of treatment to have some effect. However, you have to be very careful with this as a lot of the claims people make about certain treatments are anecdotal at best.

Changing little things on the menu, grilling the 20 year old stoned kid waiting our table about where they get their ingredients from, and just acting like a bitch in general. I'm all for eating healthy but it's a bit extreme for me and it's getting embarrassing to the point where I caught one of the kids waiting on us at a restaurant once who she was grilling on where they get their cheeses from and apologized to the poor kid.
