What exactly is UM? I assume you are talking about umbrella. If so, I remember it being talked about on here but what is the purpose exactly?

Un/Underinsured Motorist Coverage. If you don't have it, you are risking a lot on the stupidity of others.

They were great for us. Wife got rear-ended by a non-insured. Her coverage was in question, actually, not "uninsured".

Safeco not only covered but fought to/and did get our deductible back. They worked with the insurance company she was delinquent on payment for renewal with, and the third vehicle insurance that rear-ended her after she hit our vehicle.
