you see posts on here all the time
“I know a plumber who clears 350k easy” or “I know the owner of a (private) abc company and he’s worth xyz but doesn’t show it at all”

Every wealthy person I know came from moderate to high wealth.

I met an Alabama player once
I think he made around $150k/yr not including gifts and bonuses

I wont tell you his name but he owned a lot of real estate in a short period of time but tragically died a sudden death years ago.
He started out with one rental property, when he died he was worth over 40 million.

My FIL was a frat brother of a guy who came from nothing and is now worth between 12-20 billion.
FIL just went on a trip with him to octoberfeat in Germany this past year. Very high up in a world leading investment firm.

My grandpa reads AL.com and I was reading the comments and I said “this is the trashiest shite I ever read” and he said “Try Tigerdroppings” and here I came.

My wife's step-dad. No clue what he makes. Started his own business forty years ago from his garage apartment.
For reference he has:
A giant plantation home in Beau Chene.
Compound on the water at 30a. Has about 600 linear feet of beachfront plus a huge pool.
A home on HWY1 on the cliffs of the pacific in Carmel.
A 10,000 sq. ft. Home in Big Sky.
A larger ranch house in W. Yellowstone.
A house on Wadmala Island outside of Charleston.
He also has two private jets. A Citation Sovereign and a Citation X.

Know personally? I'm not sure.
A client through work just secured $50,000,000 of life insurance, so he certainly isn't poor.

You didnt say what the step dad did? What was his business?

Not sure how much, but I think he made some serious bank on Bitcoin. He also owns an internet ad business too built by people taking surveys or something along those lines. He Paid mostly cash for a 7 figure house right around the time Bitcoin was at 20k. He was asking my thoughts about it before it took off many years ago. I said it sounded like a good idea but dunno where to get started. He found out where to start. That's about all I know that I'm still somewhat close with.

One of the richest men I've known was a close neighbor/family friend growing up. He was old when I was a kid. He was a bail bondsman/loan shark in his younger years and literally slept at the jail on the weekends so he was the first guy there when they brought someone in. He made a habit of driving whatever car he had gotten when someone defaulted and they had used the vehicle as collateral.
He built that business into a legit financial business and then got into real estate and speculation. He built a nice home on large acreage. He passed and his son took over the business.
I have no idea what he or his son was/is worth, and it is none of my damn business.

I had a client at a previous job that I spoke with daily. Family networth was roughly 5 billion from what I gathered. He got old and sons tookover and they decided to do that specific line of business elsewhere. I couldn't compete and didn't have the relationships with them. He was from old money but turned old medium size town money into an empire. Huge philanthropist too. Normal dude that like fried seafood and a cold beer like most. I can't give names but they were from a coastal town in Texas. He could be deceased now... After I lost him as a client I couldn't eat and had to change jobs.
Note to salespeople, huge revenue is great, but when it comes from only a couple of clients it can cripple you if you lose them. Diversify

My boss started his company at 28. He's 46 now and the value of his ownership is worth on the higher side of 8 figures. His annual income is just the dividend I suppose.

John L Morris. Owner of Bass Pro
MILLIONS.
MILLIONS.

Y’all don’t have a clue unless you’re their accountant or maybe banker
I'm neither and I know exactly how much my boss makes annually, assuming he just takes the dividend, and I know exactly how much his share of the company is worth.
If you can't figure out other ways some folks might know this information other than being their banker or accountant, you are young and probably poor.

Started an airline with one small plane running a commuter route. Was down to maxing out credit cards to keep going. At least halfway into 9 figures net worth now but probably more. Played golf with once where he was thinking $500 was too much to spend on a new driver.
