The water is for vibration dampening.

Very exciting times. There was a brief moment when the H2 concentration in the QD cavity was spiking up during tanking and I was thinking “here we go again”. Actually watching this thing launch is as surreal as it is impressive.

I missed the launch. Gazillion taxpayer dollars spent to get this bucket of bolts flying. Elon Musk and his SpaceX Rocket Rangers would have already landed a crew on the moon and returned. Unfortunately Elon Musk doesn't fit the image the political operatives in NASA are looking for.

"I missed the launch....
Excellence is no longer the American pursuit."

Oh the irony.

Can't you be happy the thing finally got off the ground successfully?

It's a 25 day mission and it'll just orbit the moon... it won't actually land on the moon

The only landing it'll do is splashdown when the "moonequins" return home

Yep... that's why the water keeps flowing for a while after launch... the water suppression system has multiple functions

Our aeronautics Alum’s doing work. Wish it would have been “FlyAU” though.

Folks,

Just wanted to say thanks for the support and interest.

It was an incredible night.

Some notes:
I never heard anything about a radar issue that was mentioned in this thread. My guess is there was a bit of confusion about the issue on the Space Force side related to their network switch. Again that was a Space Force ground asset and not rocket related. The Space Force is involved in the launch (and all launches) to protect public safety in case there is an issue with the launch vehicle and it goes off-coarse. They send a self-destruct signal so that the rocket doesn't turn into an uncontrolled missile headed for Disney World. They test that system prior to launch, and the test failed. They troubleshot real-time and discovered the issue was on their end and fixed it quickly, so kudos to them. We had just run through that test Sunday, and everything worked. Sometimes untimely issues like this pop up with ground hardware that prevents a healthy rocket from launching. That's just life in the space biz.

Thanks again.

If you have any other questions, let me know and I'll do my best to answer.
