I bought the stone in Atlanta in 1994 from a wholesaler... $5,000. This was the year before I finished my second degree, and before my Master's program. We bought a new setting a few years later.

She's had it going on 27 years.

I make my wife give me a left-handed old-fashioned a few times a year just so I can see that worthless ring sparkle on my dong.

Paid 10k for my wife's ring about 6-7 years ago and although its beautiful, just can't help feeling like I got fleeced. Looking back I wish I would have gone with something different/cheaper.

I spent $750 on my wife's ring and she spent $200 on mine. We're happy with them and couldn't care less about jewelry.

got off lucky with mine, she is pretty practical and knew what she wanted with a focus on optics, not weight, knew a jeweler in FL: pretty well and we drew up what she wanted and he had some company in Israel make it, people compliment it all of the time, it is nice looking and looks like it's a few carats but it isn't, it's been a while but I think it cost me about six grand, and we waited till after we married to get it

Wife and I got some pretty economical rings and put the money towards shite with real value (and resale value).

If you're spending thousands on a non-scarce rock you are a weak minded fool.

I spent $11K on one two years ago. Now we are filing.

Such a wise investment on my part.

I got mine a nice sapphire ring since she likes that stone more than diamonds. Rings are for ladies to show off to other ladies. I figured I had to give her a good ring to brag about to her girlfriends since she sure has hell can't brag about her husband.

sorry to hear that, jewelry and flowers are among the biggest rip offs, imo, and unfortunately we succumb to the vanity and pettiness of womenz, I believe most jewelry is meant to be displayed to their "friends" to flaunt it in their faces

Yep she’ll just start wearing a silicone one after three years and she’s bored and starts fricking the instructor at the cultfit gym. Or becomes a wine head fricking the gardener and losses it.

No doubt.

I only hope she can get some decent money out of it when she decides to sell it.

I'll be the heavy on this.

Diamonds, jewelry, some designer handbags, etc. are likely appreciating or at least maintaining value. They can be passed down from the woman to her daughters and easily sold later.

By contrast, most of the shite men own won't do that outside of guns, ammo, or watches (so few people have them anymore).

Of all the shite that we buy for our spouses, gold or diamonds isn't really what I have a huge problem with. If you croak and leave her in a financial bind, she can sell that. And unlike phones, tablets, laptops, cars, trucks, boats, and all the other consumer crap that people buy so much of.....they are unlikely to depreciate very much and may appreciate over the years if it's good quality metal or diamonds.

Women are only good for one thing... And I don't mind a home-cooked meal every now and then either.

What?! You’re out of your mind. Lab diamonds used to be a hell of a value and still are somewhat as they’re a little cheaper. They used to be half the price of a comparable size of earth grown Diamond but now are anywhere from 5-10% cheaper and that will continue to change.

Fun fact there are different categories of earth diamonds ia iia etc and ALL lab diamonds are of the higher quality category.
The FTC made a ruling a couple or more years ago that lab grown are now to be considered real diamonds because they are. Most lab grown Diamond manufacturers have already been bought up by de beers and affiliates.

When you buy roses at the store do you think they find them on the side of the road? No they source them from suppliers who create the perfect environment to grow them. That’s all a lab does when creating diamonds. They create the perfect environment to create and grow a Diamond making sure they’re top quality.
I have a Diamond broker in the family is my source

You will be lucky to get 30% of your purchase price for a diamond the day after you bought it, when they say something depreciates like a falling stone they are literally talking about diamonds. To make the situation worse DeBeers spends millions of dollars in marketing every year to help assure a used diamond is seen by a woman as virtually worthless.
