If you listen to Greg Gagne, CBS was negotiating with Vern on a national broadcast featuring Andre vs Hogan.
Hogan jumped before negotiations were finalized. Hogan had no idea.
Wrestling would have changed.
Vince had focused on 3 wrestlers to star in the WWF. He obviously went with Hogan. The other 2 considered were Rhodes & Flair.
