I never ran out of toilet paper or anything else and never bought in bulk. So I'm still going to laugh at them.

I did have one day of inconveniences, but sometimes that happens anyway.

Depending on where you live, being a mild pepper is recommended. Think about living on the gulf coast. It’s wise to always have several gallons of water and approximately a week or two worth of canned good to eat. Having a gas grill with 1 or 2 always full propane tanks, or a sealed bag of charcoal.

This isn’t that much and can help you weather a hurricane

Well I’m not eating 10 year old canned vegetables or canned meat. So.

I still am.

There’s a difference between having what basically amounts to a couple weeks to a month worth of supplies - AKA, a hurricane preparedness kit - and having thousands of rounds of ammunition and 6 mos of canned food.

If the world comes to the latter, I think I’d rather just die in the big event that took it to that point.

If you want bleach for “prepping” go to a pool store and buy either granular bleach or bleach tablets. They will last MUCH longer than that 10% liquid stuff

I own a cleaning service, so I did buy a bunch of supplies b/c I knew people would run for them once they realized they could kill the virus by simply cleaning their home. I need them for my business and did not want to turn away work b/c I was out. Luckily, I purchased a month supply, and once we locked down I had tons.

In addition, I stocked up on food, because I realized at some point, people might not want me in their home for fear of contagion and I would be out a bit of income. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine they would lock us down and make it impossible for some people to work.

Luckily, it's served me well. I really don't need food, so I am avoiding the craziness at the grocery stores, and I don't have a lot of money so I am happy-- at least I won't go hungry.

When I was getting prepared my husband was very upset with me for buying enough food for two months. When he went to Walmart and saw it cleaned out, he came home and thanked me for thinking ahead.

Eta: 3 grocery stores this afternoon just to find prime rib-eyes to grill tonight. Should have stock piled them

I agree. I'm a semi-prepper, but I can now see how bad it would be if this virus was much worse, which it could have easily been.
What if it killed 30% of the people it affected?
Stores, gas stations....hardware stores, everything would be shut down.

I’ve barely even put a dent into my Impossible Whoppers.

Starting to run low of the stuff for milk sandwiches tho.

Every single person that hoarded TP should be executed

ETA: Except for the old or sick who got enough for a few weeks. The “old and sick” who continue to go to the stores every single day and buying up all they can should suffer the same fate as all the other hoarders

Indeed.

Prep for this was fairly easy because there was no realistic scenario of widespread power outages. You could just buy more of normal groceries and freeze it/put in pantry.

Right now I’m grateful for having a stock of shelf-stable milk and that eggs keep for so long.

I can still get either but it definitely involves planning doing stuff like being the first in the store, especially for eggs.
