Right, unwilling to learn from teh guy talking himself in circles and boxing himself in.

You can put me in the camp of posters unwilling to learn from that guy.

You don't understand either of those things.

You can't even explain if-then.

You also don't know what literal means.

It's like DisplacedBuckeye has a schtick where he tries to be as wrong as he possibly can while simultaneously being arrogant about how correct he is.

It's a pretty unique blend on a troll, if that is what it is. If so, I'm impressed.

Something that physically hurts is not something that causes bodily pain?

I learn new things every day!!!

I was whipped pretty often. Dad used a belt and mom used whatever was nearby, usually a hairbrush or the pointy end of her high-heeled shoe. I'm not really sure if it ever did anything beyond making me angry.

I'm not against spanking morally but it's not a blanket solution for every child. My oldest didn't give a shite about it at all so I had to switch gears and try other things. Conversely, my youngest was so terrified of spankings that just the mention of one was enough to get his attention and because of that I doubt he had more than five of them in his life.

Now that they're teenagers I can just threaten to take their phones. That's been more effective than anything else I've ever tried.

I honestly don't know how someone could do that to their own kid and not feel horrible about it.

I don’t think any parents in here feel good about whipping their children. Hell, my dad was typically more mad that he had to whip us than he was at our transgression.

Explain if-then and reasoning.

We both know why you won't do it.

If-then is reasoning.

That isn't what I said.

It isn't what you said, either.

Me: If then is reasoning
You: Wrong
Me: If-then is not reasoning?
You: It is

I have a 3 yr old daughter and 7 year old son. I'm equal opportunity with discipline. I'm not abusive what so ever, but I'll smack their asses if they continue what they are told not to do.

I don’t think physical pain is necessary for a child to learn discipline. I just haven’t seen any evidence to the contrary.

Spanking doesn't work. Anyone who says otherwise is a lazy parent

I can't recall ever being hit or spanked, I was threatened with it, but I don't think they ever went through with it from my memory.

I don't spank my child, I don't see the point. It's lazy parenting.
