It sounds like a good way to ruin your life.

Most of your friendships would be changed, generally not for the better.

Relentless money grubbers would show up from nowhere and everywhere and would include people in your own family.

No one would ever be satisfied because envy knows no bounds.

If possible I'd much rather win $5-10 million and keep it secret.

Then you're stupid, start off by giving handouts to everyone you care about/want to straight away in whatever fashion that may be, money/new home/college fund. Thereafter change your phone number/move to a gated community and change your name to ISIS. ISIS sounds unconventional and maybe even stupid, but no one would possibly attempt to track you at that point. Who the frick is going to sit around googling Isis? No one because they don't want to go to some secret black op site.

You're welcome

11 million net is absolutely frick you money.

It's less than 320k a year at a conservative ROR after taxes. Not even top 1% of annual household income in the US. And you still have all your bills to pay because you invested every bit of the winnings from the start instead of paying cash for your new mansion and fancy toys. AND if you don't give ONE cent to charity/friends/family. You want to pay off your parent's/sibling's/SO's parent's debts and cut a small slice for your close friends? That's a significant percentage right off the top there for the vast majority of people.

It's "frick you" money if you live like you're a successful attorney or doctor for the rest of your life. It's not frick you money if you want to live like a baller who does nothing but frick dimes and spend money all day like a lot of people in these threads act like.

This is also coming from someone who expects to live another 65-70 years. If I was 65 years old, then yea that's a totally different situation.

Managed correctly, and you'll easily never have to worry about money ever again and you will live a nice fricking life of luxury. Ball till you fall and you will fall quickly.

Increased my taxes by $10 today. Would like to hit a few numbers. Don't know that I need all of them. If I did I would find some way to hide the fact that I got it.

You don't have to give them anything. That is your choice.

i dont get this. i can't name a single big jackpot winner. athletes/actors dont have their children with secret service watching them every second. live in a nice area with other rich arse people and blend in, not like im gonna bling out my yeti tumbler in 24k gold showing off my riches. an intelligent well balanced person can easily live a great life after winning a jackpot.

All this. If Drew Brees can walk around NOLA without body guards, some random person whose name no one will remember in a week after winning the powerball will be fine.

That's my thing. I don't get the paranoia. People would forget after a few months (people that don't know you that is). Celebrities and athletes worth 100+ MM don't always have security around them and their kids aren't constantly being kidnapped for ransom. I mean has that even happened to other jackpot winners.

I'd move to a new place after shite settled down and not ever discuss finances with the new neighbors. Would likely move somewhere that I'm not the only one with that kind of coin and fit right in. My family already has a few multi millionaires (although none close to the 9 figure mark), and it doesn't cause the worst problems in the world. No one asked anyone but my grandparents for money and that's only because they insist.

True, but that why you don't allow your name to be published. The fundraising charity assholes would be the worst and most relentless, so its best that you keep the whole thing on the down low.

The family would know something was up since you'd be buying Ferraris and 10 million dollar houses, but if they got too annoying, you could always move away.

I just got back from the little mom and pop gas station down the street and about 20 people were in line for tickets. I feel like it will be over $1 bil. by drawing time.

You realize that you would instantly be worth 2,000% more than Drew Brees

Exactly. As far as friends and family. I seriously doubt that my relatuonships with my true friends and family would change much.

I am not one of these people that goes and hangs out with my "friends" all the time.

I have a very small circle of friends and family that I am close to, and I don't see that changing much. If it does change then it's on them. Not me.

How so??? It would to me... I would use about $10 million to take care of what and who I want and then let the rest just sit there... I would get ALOT of strange with some of the people I would help though....$100,000 will get you A chick that will let you do what ever you want. AND will do to YOU what ever you want....

Brees is only worth 13 million?

Must have been involved in some REALLY shitty investments considering he just got a 37 million dollar signing bonus a couple of years ago.

The point is there are many very wealthy people that just live their life and don't walk around with bodyguards 24/7

No shite huh?

His net on that signing bonus is still a helluva lot higher than the net worth you seem to think he has.
