Put them down and never pick one up again. Quit after 15 years. Physical addition was gone in three days, but I had the desire for about 10 years. The thought of smoking makes me sick now, but quitting was the hardest thing I have ever done. Good luck, it was the smartest thing I've ever done.

I woke up in a hospital 90 miles from home 2 days ater a stroke. I had been smoking for 53 years. I have'nt smoked since. That was 4 years ago.

I started smoking cigars and all of the sudden I could taste all the chemicals in cigs, so I switched. I was smoking three or four cigars a day the first week or so. Now I have one or two a week.

Quit for three years. Got angry at someone and picked them back up. Quit again six years ago cold turkey. Just be prepared to feel like crap for 10 days and have cravings for about a year after. Don't do it during winter or a stressful time. Gain some weight and take it off later. I LOVED smoking but am so glad to quit!!!

I did too. If you told me the world was going to end in a week, I'd go buy a carton. The fact is that it's not worth it to yourself and the ones you love.

Friends helped me. Wouldn't let me go out of apartment unaccompanied for three days. I was ok after that. After three weeks, I felt really good.

I haven't met a single person that tried e-cigs and DIDN'T stop smoking. Go to a smoke shop and get a good one.
Didn't work for me.

DadWafer tried all kinds of things that didn't work. He then went cold turkey and kicked it. Smoked for probably 25 years before.
I guess you'll quit when you're really ready.
ETA It's been almost 14 years since he's smoked.

Lozenges worked well for me. The 2 and 4 mg sizes. Started with the 4's, used the 2's till I did not want to smoke, it was gradual almost painless way to do it.
I preferred this to nicotine gum and the patches, I had tried those as well.
Quit 14 yrs ago
Good Luck

cold turkey
finished a pack one day, didn't ever buy another. had one while drinking like 6 months later, then again 6 months after that. kind of became a ritual.
