Covid got me. Only time. Was a project coordinator for an office furniture company. We went from averaging 2.2 mil in sales a week to $5,000 in about 3 weeks. Luckily they were owned by Herman Miller or they woulda gone completely under.

I'm 70+ and have never been fired, but a disclaimer, since 2002 I have owned the company. I learned to never, ever burn a bridge behind you, every company I left I worked my arse off the last few weeks to make sure they had a trained replacement. It pays off, some of my old employers became good clients.
Getting fired, which was always a fear of mine, has to be devastating to your ego, especially if you have little deductions running around and not a lot of savings.

Yeah I got fired.
Had a crappy conversation with the VP on why it took me three hours to respond to texts, calls and emails on a Sunday evening.
I told him I was busy. Wrong answer. He was so spineless that when he hung up, he locked me out of my email.
And that’s how I knew I was fired.

I have. Once for destroying a company laptop, and once for doing drugs. Those were both shitty oil industry jobs, so no big loss. Thankfully now I am in an industry where there are no drug tests and very few idiots who make me want to punch a laptop.

Nope. Never even had a boss get actually upset with me (at least not to my face)

Been laid off once but never got fired. Came close in my younger days with those shite jobs where you know you are just a cover on a schedule for somebody.
It’s amazing how your minimum wage workers will work better when you at least treat them like humans.

I have, and I deserved it. I had a serious substance abuse problem that made me unemployable. The company did all they could do to support me and I blew multiple chances and opportunities.
I’m a better man for it today. Almost 7 years sober and employed that entire time, including the first 1.5 years as a 40 year old restaurant server when I had to walk to/from work.
Bad times, self inflicted and lesson learned to never touch alcohol again.

In the days before hippa I had a heart attack and was out for two months from my sales position.
First day back my manager worked with me and reviewed sales figures with me. He said if I had a bad heart attack I would have died so I needed to catch up with my sales.
Two months later he came back and showed me my numbers for the first month I was out and put me on the "improvement" program.
I knew what that meant as I had seen this used as a termination tool and immediately started job hunting. I was very fortunate as I got an offer two days before I was fired for my sales ranking .
New job was with a smaller company and it turned out well for me.
My advice for those in similar situations is look out for yourself.

I worked for Fleet Feet Sports during my sophomore year of college. We sold running shoes to mostly old people, and the occasional runner.
I was paid $10/hr part time, and on the morning of the LSU/Ole Miss game 2016 (I told her I had season tickets and I paid for and she wouldn't let me go), I was tasked with overseeing a group of kids and their parents on a 2 mile run across the lakes at 6am, had to be there at 5:30am. I pull up to the lakes, and there are 2 kids and 2 parents there total (I'm still hungover from the Friday night prior). I attempt to run the two miles, realize "i'm doing this for $10 when I should be tailgating) and I left. She had me slated for a 10a-7pm work shift AFTER the run was completed. I got to the office and called my boss and said I was sick. she let me go home. I ended up going out to the parade grounds and tailgated - a coworker of mine took a picture of me and sent it to her. She texted me "how are you feeling?", "I'm feeling better, just drinking fluids". she sent me the picture ole girl took and fired me.
LSU won 38-21, and Fleet Feet sports went out of business 2 months later
would do it again

I was laid off once during the drilling moratorium (Thanks Obama), but they gave me a heads up and gave me time to find another job, which didn’t take long. Still on good terms with that company.

Thought I was going to get fired once. I got into a heated argument with my boss's boss. My boss was there, but instead of supporting me, the little shitweasel through more gas on the fire.
In the end, the big boss figured out that I wasn't the problem and the shitweasel was a shitweasel. He then became a mentor and friend.
