Confident people who work out of town.

Only on business trips. I'd prefer to have a few drinks at the hotel bar and talk with the other travelers than sit in my room. I've met a ton of cool people and we always talk college football.

I go to Fred's in Tigerland alone a lot, but I'm over forty so it's no big deal. I just stand out of the way and look at the girls and I'll buy them drinks if they ask.

I've sat at the bar at the hotel when travelling for work. I'm not a huge fan of it because I cannot just sit there and wait to strike up a conversation. After about 2 minutes I'm bored and digging through my phone for something to read or something like that. Then I come off a little anti social. But out of the 4 or so times I've done it, I had a pretty good shot at hooking up if I wasn't married. There were definitely girls in the hotel bar looking for a man to show them attention and they approach you so you really don't need any game.

I do, occassionally, mostly to see live music when my friends have work and it's a band my so doesn't care for.

I do. I walk a block to get there. One has a spaghetti western night and a blues night. I like those. The other is cheap and convenient.
I can go play pool, great way to meet other people.
Going to a bar alone is only weird if you make it weird.

Bdubs is the spot. If no one else is around you can play the poker game to occupy your time. I usually only go if I want to watch a sporting event I wouldn't normally access, but I usually end up talking to people here and there regardless.

I do it all the time. In New Orleans and out of town.

I go to my after work bar alone occasionally. I never go out alone unless I am meeting people.
It is acceptable for afternoon/early evening drinks.

It's amazing how much you put yourself in a bubble when going out only with friends. You don't realize it until you go somewhere alone.
People are much more likely to approach someone alone than a group. It's less intimidating. I've had some of my best nights going out alone.

just find a decent bar, talk to the bartenders and maybe others around and go from there
unless you're socially inept, it's pretty easy

I hate talking to strangers. I usually drink a few while watching tv at the bar before talking to anyone, unless they talk to me first.

Depending on the situation, I don't usually just start talking right away. After a round I'll get going. If the bar is empty, talk more to the bartender. If there's a lot of people, I'll find my way by talking to people that come up next to me when the order or sit down.

I went to bars alone for most of the week last week, met a ton of people and had a blast.
