I am off until 1-3-17 and in the private sector. On top of that, I'm carrying over 9 days of vacation to 2017.

I've seen this mentioned several times on here lately. Is it really all that unusual for you all to get a whole week off of work?

Off until Mid February with a few days checking in here and there. Military making the move to California, final out of here on the 4th

I'm in the construction industry where things are busier than they've ever been. I've got crews pissed off that they could not work today due to the holidays. If I can do without you for two weeks, I can do without you.
So yeah, more than one continuous week off is almost unheard of for essential personnel in my field.

I'll be off until probably mid February, maybe even March, and getting paid every week.
