Oh you mean tax cuts for 80% of America?
Corporate tax cuts spurring capital spending?

Obama was a joke.

As long as someone is shoving platitudes up their azzes and jangling shiny keys above their cribs, they are happy.

That is my entire point. How are people trashing this entire proposal instead of admitting there are legitimately good ideas in the proposal?

frick those people and their agendas. Every last one of them need to live in a 3rd world country for a year or so.

Just look at my upvote/downvote count in this thread for taking that approach.

Part of it is because it's spearheaded by cortez.
She's a blithering idiot who was put into office by an outside group and she has no idea what she is doing. I don't want a thieving broke bartender telling me how to solve the worlds perveived problems
Even her own party hates her

Unless some grownups who aren't mentally handicapped revised almost all of what the Green New Deal originally proposed, the faithful implementation of what AOC and her fellow whackjobs are promoting will lead to a future that resembles "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome".

2) There's no way to pay for it.
If they want a better bill, someone needs an economics book. The econ graduate didn't learn much.

She reminds me of the college freshman who comes back home for Thanksgiving and finally has a seat at the big table. All the other adults just smile and nod at her realizing that reality hasn't set in.
Or the inevitable Nikola Tesla threads, in the fall, on this board when someone finds out about him in an intro class and assumes the rest of society has never heard of Tesla.

Please give some examples of the good ideas in this proposal that also fall under the powers granted to the federal government through the US Constitution.
The only powers that the government holds are:
- Coin/print money
- Regulate trade between states and internationally
- Military (declare war, provide for a navy and an army)
- Postal Service

They are speaking into a vacuum right now because no one else is speaking.
Agreed there needs to be a better plan.

Man, don't believe Wesley Snipes, you need to pay your taxes too.

I do, it's wasted. Welfare and war are the only things we really care about and the way both are administered is atrocious.
Taxpayers deserve to be pissed off and demand better accountability before expanding the government.
The New Green deal is idiocy in action. Take the good concepts out and scrap it.

I just want to break this down for everybody.
look you can argue any of those points and rationalize your opinion for why we want those things. very few people are sitting around wishing shite upon their fellow man. we want clean air. i want their not to be poverty in the US. I want inner city kids to have options to get out of their situation. i want college to be affordable.
The government has tackled every single one of those issues and they still exist today and most are worst. Some are better, for sure, but the war on poverty has failed massively. When the government took over student loans, prices went up astronomically. tGND is giving the government a blank check to try and fix every problem, when they have a proven track record of not.

Don't we have SS already? Why do we need to add this in there if it's working well already? Does the burger guy get the same retirement that the doctor gets?

who determines what is affordable? if i have a large house and want to sell it, do they force me to sell it at a certain cost so the burger guy with 8 kids can afford it? do they force renters to rent at a cost below market value to make it affordable? what happens if that becomes economically unsustainable for home builders and renters? Does the government take over all home building?
Economic security can't be guaranteed. If i make bad investments, is the government going to secure those? If the market crashes, do i have a safety net?

i don't have a problem with this. I don't like the EPA but clean air and water is a good thing.

Education is already available to all people of the United States. What they mean is make it free. At the cost of tax payers who have already paid for school, or are paying off loans.
"Meeting 100 percent of the power demand in the United States through clean, renewable, and zero-emission energy sources.
There is no such thing as 100% clean renewable energy. It takes waste to make a battery operated car. the batteries they require to operate is a highly hazardous material. How are they going to make that disappear when the car dies for good. making solar panels requires energy from somewhere and is going to create waste no matter what.

""Upgrading all existing buildings in the United States and building new buildings to achieve maximal energy efficiency, water efficiency, safety, affordability, comfort, and durability, including through electrification.
That is hundreds and hundreds of Trillions of dollars. there is not enough money in the world for the next 3 lifetimes to afford retrofitting every building in the US to achieve that. and if so, does every homeowner get a blank check to achieve it?
""Overhauling transportation systems in the United States to eliminate pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from the transportation sector as much as is technologically feasible, including through investment in – (i) zero-emission vehicle infrastructure and manufacturing; (ii) clean, affordable, and accessible public transportation; and (iii) high-speed rail."
high speed rail sounds great. how many train crashes do we have in the U.S. compared to plane crashes? who's land are you seizing to make the connections?
"Spurring massive growth in clean manufacturing in the United States and removing pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from manufacturing and industry as much as is technologically feasible."
i'm all about cutting emissions. it's great.
"Working collaboratively with farmers and ranchers in the United States to eliminate pollution and greenhouse gas emissions from the agricultural sector as much as is technologically feasible."
what they mean is get rid of cow farts.

All about shrinking the government and removing a lot of executive power.
Might be one of the good things that comes from a Trump presidency. GW abused it, Obama assaulted it, Trump is raping it. Executive powers need to be reigned in, no one person should have so much power in a democracy. Most of that is because Congress is lazy and only worried about re-election. I digress though.

Reducing emmisions.
Moving towards renewable or what people want to call "green" energy.
