Are you sure Pitter Patter wasn’t a drop your kids off daycare place. I recall my folks dropping me off at some place by Sicily’s on Florida, while they went to the Village. I also recall Alfalfa video and Video Visions was the place to go on Friday night.

Yeah dumbass, it was right there on Monterey by Cortana, little Sicily’s, and vision 4 less.

Not a daycare. I went to Birthday parties there. I think my little brother had one there.

There was a place on Florida Blvd and Monterrey...Kids on Deposit. Was in the shopping center that used to have Delchamps.

My parents would drop us off there whenever they wanted to go see a movie/have dinner. I was like 9-10 and remembered just playing original Nintendo the entire time I was there.

Dumbass there was also a place in that shopping center that was a drop of for both a daycare and for sitting. I recall specially for two reasons. One is was the first place I got to play Mario Brothers because they had Nintendo set it up. Second one time I was there the EMS was called because a baby fell out of a crib. My parents lived in Sherwood and would drop off of on the way to the Orginal The Village, Drusilla Seafood, and Lafonda’s it may not have been pitter patter but there was a place in that shopping center.

See my post above you...it was Kids on Deposit.

I remember they had the nintendos set up against one wall and kids would wait in line to play Mario on it.

Went to the movies quite often in that mall. Always ate at that McDonald's before or after the movie.

Shamrock shakes there were also awesome.

Lsunurse,

I am sure we were there at the same time. My folks would always felt guilty drop us off and would leave us with burger king or McDonald’s.

I can remember my brother and I asking our parents to go to the movies so we could go to Kids on Deposit.

Alfalfa video

Haven't heard that name in years. In my area it was a place where I could buy cds at 11pm on Sunday nights.
Thought it was so cool.

Years before there was a pizza place called Sicily's in that shopping center. It had an awesome buffet.

Photon was about the biggest thing to hit Baton Rouge in the early 80's. It died off quickly too.

Around the Corner had good burgers and steak fries but the ketchup was always fermented. I would still eat there today, if possible.

New Jew was a grocery store before called Food Town.

While it was not really a Baton Rouge place, The alligator Hilton, owned by Mrs. Earline and Red was pretty awesome. I believe she ended up shooting him.

Its pretty much the same place just with a lot more people. The main difference is instead of north BR having all the stuff, it has all moved to south BR. Instead of people reinvesting in broadmoore, tara, sherwood forest, glenn oaks, and surrounding areas, people are moving to Livingston, Ascension, and Zachary leaving the old places run down and abandoned.

Plenty of investment in these areas. That Broadmoor shopping center is getting all kinds of new shite. Just opened a Wingstop, a boutique pharmacy, etc and it looks like they are prepping for more...not bad considering where it was 5-10 years ago. That new Hi Neighbor makes bank from what I hear.

And basically Tara and all of Goodwood blvd. From office buildings to houses Are being bought up and fixed up. I know someone who just tore down an old house and is building right across from the library.

Just sayin’

Loved growing up back then. Didnt have much money but rode my bike everywhere. There was a small bmx track behind some houses in the woods in Woodland Ridge just off S. Harrells Ferry. Spent a lot of time in Forest Park. Went to Video Visions every Friday night and loved the horror section. Anyone remember slick track on Florida by Belaire. It was a small go cart place where they would wet the track and you would slide everywhere. Now its a used car lot. Really miss the Old Baton Rouge.

That was @ North Little John right? Use to be a Burger King across the corner and a old seafood restaurant I think called Bobby Meador's kind of behind the "race" track

Tabby Thomas was a blues legend. His old place was on Lafayette Street across from the Hilton Capital Center in what is now a gutted, abandoned building.

Baw. His real old place. The OG Blues Box was on the corner of North Blvd and Eddie Robinson. Thursday night Hoo Doo Night. $5 cover for a blues jam and all the skunk keg beer you could stomach. If you could physically walk in you could drink and jam out to John Lisi, TJ Black, Nick “Nolf Dawg” Nolfe, and Tabby. It was glorious. Security guard was an old dude with a .38. It was before Mid-City was a thing and when nobody went downtown. So if you were there you were there for the blues or to drink underage, or in my case both. The real Blues Box was torn down around 2000 for the North Blvd overpass.

The RR crossing on North used to be crazy steep. I hit it going 60 (on purpose) in my truck one night going to Tabby’s. Almost shite my pants. I though my wheels were going to shoot off when I landed. The people behind me said they saw the bottom of my tires above the crossing. Never did that again.
