Art Coley’s was a high end electronics store. It was located on Jefferson between Capitol heights and government. I purchased some equipment from them in the early 90’s

I was thinking they sold Yamaha, Klipsch, Crown Open reel decks (had to be 70's for those).
I never actually got to go in those BR stores.

In late 70's, My mother and stepdad lived off of Hollywood street in NBR. Used to be able to see a movie at Robert E Lee cinema off plank rd. the K&B drugstore was out front of the theater. Enjoyed some Jody's seafood. I think there was a ShoeTown store in that area. Wouldn't be caught there now.

Skate City was scary as a small kid. I remember it always being full of unsupervised teens who were terrible to everyone. Then when I became an unsupervised teen I realized it wasn't half bad. I'm sure a lot of teens who grew up in that era first got to 2nd base there.

My dad and family lived on Hollywood directly in path of the futuristic 110 Expressway.
They were forced to move and landed on America Street.

Mom and stepdad rented a small house on Amarillo Street toward Exxon. The fumes from that plant are still etched in my mind 35 years later.

I did not grow up in Baton Rouge but lived close. My senior year of high school in 1991 me and a couple of buddies met some girls at a Cajun 103 concert in Livingston Parish that McBride and the Ride and Confederate Railroad played at. We were able to buy up tons of beer tickets and had a blast. The girls we met, who lived in Baton Rouge, invited us down the next weekend and we wound up at a blues bar in a shitty part of town. I believe it was called Tabbys. It actually wound up being a great night I'll never forget. It did have a bit of a shady crowd,but great live music and dancing and nobody had to show an ID to enter and drink. Does anyone know the place I'm talking about or if it is still around?

Tabby Thomas was a blues legend. His old place was on Lafayette Street across from the Hilton Capital Center in what is now a gutted, abandoned building.
The Blues Room was opened in his honor to sorta replace Tabby's. There is also Kenny Neal's Juke Joint on Plank Road and Teddy's Juke Joint up in Zachary. Teddy's is real old school. If you want to try to relive that experience, that would be the place I'd go.

Unfortunately not. Tabby's moved downtown eventually but he had a stroke and had to close. He died a few years ago.

Thanks for the information. I'll definitely check out Teddys Juke Joint in Zachary! Now I just need to convince the Wife to let me find a hot little red head to bring with me and it'll be a stroll down memory lane! LOL!
