I want to get mine done, I've been told I'm part Cherokee. I could care less if it's true, I'm just curious what DNA is preventing me from growing enough facial hair to sport any form of beard or mustache. The funny thing is I look like a werewolf below the waist. I joke with people that I didn't waste my puberty on the waist up, it's all concentrated below the waist

No DNA test required, legal documents tracing back to a person on the Dawes Roll. So unless you have that info with documentation already or can find out and secure documentation, it is difficult.

Tribal Citizenship Cherokee Nations
quote:

Today the Cherokee Nations is more than 315,000 citizens strong, young and old. To be eligible for Cherokee Nation citizenship, individuals must provide documents connecting them to an enrolled direct ancestor who is listed on the Dawes Roll with a blood degree. CDIB/Tribal Citizenship is traced through natural parents. In cases of adoption, CDIB/Citizenship must be proven through a biological parent to an ancestor registered on the Dawes Roll.

yep, just as aggravating as ignorant blacks who claim African ancestry just because they are black, even though blacks are found world wide from every country

some people just want to claim victim hood from an imagined connection to oppressed groups of the past

You can tell the majority of people in the Midwest have crossed genetics. The facial structure and cheekbones give it away.

I have a niece and nephew that are 1/2 Apache and 1/2 Mexican (more Aztec features)

I can't really tell which features are prominent for either ethnicity

Uhh... this is the fricking South. all of our ancestors were settlers. unless your ancestors were too "elite" to marry some poor Injuns, you very likely have Injun blood. do you think they all just got slaughtered. (if you've attended public school, maybe you do think thus)

My grandmother's family is on tribalpages.com with info about their family.

My grandfather's family also married some Indians back in the 1800s, but just censuses and photos for proof.

what are the odds they both have Injun blood? well, they are native Texans and southerner families, so pretty high chances.

why do they care about such small amounts of blood?

how many people really care? it's just something cool that makes you a little unique. I'm pretty amazed you cared this much to make a post about it.

I'm an "actual Cherokee"
and am not insulted. anybody who is needs something more important in life to worry about.

Almost all white people from the south are Irish or Scottish

as in, we all have some Scots/Irish blood? ok.

as in, we are all majority? as in, back in the 1700/1800s, that was the majority? frick no. read some American history. theres a reason we didnt fight Ireland for independence hoss. Southerners are descended from Virginia Cavaliers which are English Royalists who supported King Charles I.

it is the South. our ancestors were poor, and they mated with poor Injuns. you have to be a real idiot to deny this.

Is this a safe place for white-looking people to talk about our non-white ancestry? I'll check back later.

LOL there is not a single pure anything in this country thats family has been here since the beginning of America. besides Injun.

if your ancestors are old time Americans, you are probably mostly English, Irish, or Scots-Irish with possibly some German

Years ago I forgot which Baton Rouge TV station had the thought for a day. It was a segment where little kids would go on and talk about example this is a Jewish holiday or this is a blank holiday.

My sister was on the segment to talk about an American Indian day. Funny part they had her on to talk about a Jewish holiday also. To my knowledge we do not have any Jewish heritage. The people who did it thought she looked Jewish.

Then I hated my mom making me wear a shirt with a picture of Tonto on it to pre school. I liked my shirt with the Lone Ranger on it. She kept on trying to make me wear that shirt with a picture of Tonto on it. Who's picture would you want on your shirt Tonto or The Lone Ranger? The ladies like The Lone Ranger!

Anyway, for five dollars when I was growing up, you could become a Cherokee Indian. If you paid the 5 you got the free government cheese and some other bullshite.

Last I took note, if your Daddy paid that $5, you get $80,000 EIGHTY THOUSAND DOLLARS when you turn 18.
