As hilariously derivative as Arc de Trump would be, I suspect it would be a very American name that they picked if this thing was built. Freedom Arch or something probably. It definitely won't be French

Every arch you can think of is derivative of the Roman arches shite, NYC has an actual derivative arc de triomphe already in Washington square park.

I mean the media called it arc de trump right? Obviously that wouldn't be it's actual name.

Complete waste of money just like gilding the White House in gold, bulldozing the rose garden, building a useless ball room, getting jets we dont need...

Pretty fricking swampy if you ask me.

The OP I think said “Independence Arch” or something like that?

But I don’t mean the name; I mean at all. No “Erected during the presidency of Donald J. Trump”, etc. No etchings with his name, no plaques. Nothing at all with the letters T-R-U-M-P in succession. Think he’d still be interested?

Eta: Yep, “captions” said Independence Arch.

Ostentatious yes. Useless? No. The east room was outgrown a century ago. Large events require a damn tent on the lawn

Ahhh. That I can't speak to. A plaque or something wouldn't be very classy for a DC monument, but it wouldn't surprise me.

In the mid-90s, I was at the Arc de Triomphe as a wide-eyed 24 y/o and it was a magnificent sight to behold. It's surprisingly massive & simply breathtaking. I felt like a humbled ant. Pictures and postcards do it no justice.

I don't know if it's fiscally responsible, but hell, in the long run, America would be proud to have a similar landmark of grandeur.

Typically, when he does this he pays out of his own pocket.

Trump is building a shrine to honor of himself? Next thing you know we’ll be having military parades in his honor….errrrrr….never mind.

Once again, not your money. It’s not coming out of the treasury. So what’s the problem.

Sure it’s been said many times already, but this is gonna drive the liberals and OT “centrists” absolutely insane.

I don't know for sure, but I think he listed a bunch of things paid for without taxpayer funding as a tongue in cheek jab at that complaint.

Eta
One of the items listed was a literal gift
