I hope I’m not the only one but a couple times a day I just have to stop and sob thinking about the amazing heroic actions that nurses, fast food workers, cashiers demonstrate every day. I am literally brought to tears at the thought of these heroes.

Date: February 23, 1945
The Iwo Jima Marines identified: (Left to right)
1) Cpl. Ira Hayes (date of death, January 24, 1955 at 32 years old), aka, Chief Falling Cloud, Pima Indian, far left in the photo with both of his arms extended upwards.
2) Cpl. Harold Schultz (date of death, May 16, 1995 at 70 years old) directly in front of Cpl. Ira Hayes, with the rifle slung on his back.
3) Sgt. Michael Strank (KIA, Iwo Jima, March 1, 1945, 25 years old) barely visible on the other side of Schultz.
4) Pfc. Franklin Sousley (KIA, Iwo Jima, March 21, 1945, 19 years old) back to camera, looking down with his right hand on the flag pole just above the left hand of the Marine to the far right.
5) Cpl. Harold "Pie" Keller, (date of death March 13, 1979 at 57 years old) almost hidden on the other side away from the camera from Pfc. Franklin Sousley. His right hand is visible holding onto the flag pole above Sousley's head.
6) Cpl. Harlon Block (KIA, Iwo Jima, March 1, 1945 at 20 years old) far right, bending over putting the flag pole into the ground.
