suits are fricking stupid and uncomfortable, ties are a nuisance. this bullshite piece of fashion is the only thing we still wear that goes back to the 17th century. it's time to let it go.

I've got a decent pair of brown - they just aren't near as nice or formal as the black. Hence why I predominately wear the black pair with suits.

I'll wear the brown pair with more casual attire - anything tied in with a blazer or sport coat.

Brown shoes can go with anything

Blazer, jeans, casual dress, even shorts--much more versatile than black shoes.

Not a black suit.

I can get behind the brown shoes and navy suit...the grey...eh it just clashes too much. But to each his own.

Black shoes with a blue suit is fine. Posters are going a little overboard shitting on that.

It's not so rare that it's never done, but I don't know how you can say it's common among professionals. I mean, I can't recall seeing one in my work this calendar year yet. I'm not talking about kids at moot court competitions or slobs, though. I mean clients and other professionals in meetings and the like.

Black isn't THE most popular color by any stretch, but it's also pretty inconspicuous and doesn't stand out for good or bad reasons IMO. Many navy suits are so dark that you can't even tell without another color for reference. If you walked around the office in a black suit no one would give a shite in my experience.

I mean, it's the quintessential classic look. It is about as conservative and safe of a pick as you can get.

lol yea anything besides black suit.

For a grey suit, it depends on the depth of grey and brown.

Bingo

Not so much

half the pics you posted are of charcoal suits, which is proving everyone else's point.

Meh, maybe that's my problem then.

Isn't charcoal just a different shade of grey?

I guess. It just doesn't to me or in my experiences. Black suit, white shirt, and reasonable tie and no one would bat an eye as far as I'm concerned. Obviously others feel differently, which is why I agree navy is the safest choice.

Probably not true. But if so, I bet his assistant(s) do.

If some college kid wears a black suit to an interview, who cares, as long as he maintains a neat appearance? Not sure why people are shitting on that. You're half expected to be a little rough around the edges on that shite anyway. I certainly was.

Eta: rats, didn't realize this thread was as stale as it is.
