Bar attached to a gas station?

That's a new one for me. Wonder what kind of crowd that attracts?

Yeah, seems weird, but it's not the only one I've seen. It's almost like a little mini shopping center. I used to go to this bar called Scoundrels in a little shopping center like that. It has a convenient store and a bar. This particular one is off LA16. I've been in there, very small bar.

There are Louisiana cases that specifically say that the law does not apply to bicycles.

I'm quite sure there are many places in Louisiana that would not enforce or prosecute that law. But based on the wording of the statute, making the statement, "you CAN get a DWI riding a bicycle" is not false.

yep, you can, and as mentioned earlier we have beaten the pulp out of this but I'll repeat this and then I'm done, a cop can charge you with DUI on anything, the DA may proceed and you may win in court, but the hassle, expense, and insurance ramifications will be about the same as if you were convicted, even if it doesn't go to court

No.

Unless you have a shitty lawyer. Then, yes.

In Louisiana you cannot get a DWI on a bike unless it has a motor on it, ie electric bike.

Don't bother, apparently people can google the law, but pass over the case that settled the actual issue.

I hate drunk drivers more than just about anything, as most people do, but I have a belief that the penalty for drunk driving should be commensurate with the potential for damage/death due to your act.

Basically, a baw riding a bicycle drunk down a residential street should not be charged the same as a long haul truck driver, drunk, rolling down the expressway at 75 mph.

That seems fair. And we’d rather them bike home than drive anyways.

Who can blame him! His car has a breathalyzer device from his last DWI, so you gotta do what you gotta do.

There's a bar heading into Pensacola from Perdido Key named Rocky's...most afternoons you can see an orange/red riding lawnmower parked right out front by the door.

I know you get in trouble with the FAA, but do local law enforcement authorities charge pilots with DUI?

sure, if they're DUI on the streets, but on duty we are subject to random alcohol tests, there actually is a legal limit you can have in your system, and it is miniscule, to take in the account the use of mouthwash, hand sanitizer, hair gel, etc., if you are near that limit(and it varies from country to country.) they may do more in depth screening because it gives suspicion that you may have been drinking within the eight hour(prior to operating the aircraft) window, they're very bad about this in London, there is a separate security area for crews, and as your coming through the metal detector the security agent will stand right in your face and try to see if they smell alcohol, even though that is not their job, if they think they smell it they won't say anything but will wait until you've gone out to the jet to report you so that if you have alcohol in your system it now becomes a crime

§98. Operating a vehicle while intoxicated

It doesn't say other means of conveyance "with a motor" on it.
