I maintain that I could still use the bat whether swinging or blocking to keep you at a distance that your smaller weapon would be rendered useless. Unless of course you threw it which would be a huge mistake.

Why not just run away if you're master plan is to block? The swinging part has already been debunked

I think people are being a bit too optimistic on the bat. I've seen non-athletic people swing a bat and it is usually pretty ugly. Most people are going to be wild, and while I agree that a bat is the most intimidating to prevent a fight, if a fight is inevitable, then someone can get inside of the range of the bat an you're toast.
In other words, from 3 feet or so inward the bat would be a liability. Overhead tomahawk style swings can be easily avoided.

I don't think so. Any swing speed that would be damaging to me would also be difficult to adjust or recover from if I avoid it.

exactly, and actually, most people don't know how to focus energy anyway.
I guess this is about fighting, and very few people have actually ever done it. After the first time you get your arse whooped, you will be faster. nobody will ever get you with the bat,you will go inside fast. Why would you wait on it? Go in breaking bones.Give the motherfricker an impact heart attack.

Give me the bat. I want to be able to hit you first.

most individuals wielding any of those "weapons" can relatively easily be disarmed with a belt. ill take the belt

until the end ruptures and the rubber balls fall out

I didn't say my master plan was to block. You asked what I would do if I missed. Who knows what would happen if I were ever in this situation, maybe I crack the bat over my knee and come at you with a 3' splintered chunk of hardwood, you know, since it's the OT and we are all 6'6" 240, able to stop bats with our bare hands, and win fights with a belt buckle.

OK, Mr. Baddass.

You don't have to go Pedro Serrano with the bat. Hold it with both hands like a staff and jab with the end until the opening presents itself to close the deal.

Thanks for realizing I was right

Or just swing at an angle and aim for where the neck meets the torso. No OT jamoke is going to Jackie Chan out of the way or deflect it with their titanium-reinformed forearm.

Notice how I didn't say I was gonna block the bat. I said deflect
Search Google for "how to defend against a baseball bat". The defenses are basically mirroring what I am saying. Move, deflect, and get in close. Then your bat is useless. Keep holding onto it, and that's a wasted hand

I would say either a baseball bat or belt. You don't have to get as close to them to use it. WIth a brick, you have two options.. Throw it or hold it to hit someone, if you throw it, that's it.. No more weapon.
