Tried retirement 11 years ago. Was on a ridge line in the TX hill country with a view forever, an pretty good watering hole a great group of new friends. Woke up one morning & realized I was really getting in a much to comfortable rut.
Out of the blue, I had the opportunity to help my son open an office back in NOLA. Had never given a moments thought to ever going home till that call.
Long story short, best thing I ever did was getting back in the race. While I am being forced to slow down as I age, retirement just doesn’t work for me. I have been blessed to simply be an a great position at peace helping the kids build a business that will support all.
FWIW, non of that would be possible without the great staff & care I get at the NOLA VA.

Retired at 56, been 11 years this month. Did a little side consulting for a few years, but realized being 100% free of obligations was more valuable than the money. I stay very busy, but have no routine other than I exercise daily. I don’t think about the future much, no longer have much of a bucket list. I traveled a lot, and did all the adventurous stuff when when I was young. It’s very freeing to no longer have goals, or be planning for the future, I just get up and live each day. My only regret is not being able to quit even earlier.

47 and I'm retiring from corporate work in January due to Vax mandate at work.
Luckily my wife and I own a digital marketing agency she has been running for 7 years, and we filed 2 new LLC's last year for a short term rental business and wedding venue. We thought it would be end of 2022 before booking/renting, but with me working on it full time starting January, we now expect rentals starting in May and weddings in August/September.

I encourage all of you to save and retire early. Life and family are a priority.

65 in two weeks and still working. Professional job, unlimited vacation, and like what I do. Financially I could retire but I honestly don’t know that I would be happier. Really don’t know what’s best.

Semi-retired and go about my business. Don't believe I am at a point to retire outright
