I played tennis and there were plenty of times the guy nailed a lightning fast serve only to have me basically just stick my racket out and plop it back.

Happened to me plenty of times too.

It's not that rare.

Hardest- swimming the 400 IM... You can't fake it

I swim about 3 times a week. I'm no speed demon, but I'm not horrid. No way I can do that...cant even do 400 free in under 5 minutes. I'd be lucky to break 6:00 in scy, much less meters . And I've been swimming (adult onset swimmer) for a few years. 95% of people are physically incapable of achieving this. I'd put this closer being equal to a sub 3:15 marathon...maybe even sub 3

Easiest: Marathon in under 4 hours.

No way. I knew 14 year olds in high school who could pole vault. OP didn't say it was some sort of impressive height.

You could give a guy 100 fastballs and he could luck into hitting 5 of them fair. You could give him 100 attempts at a 50 yard field goal with an oncoming rush and he'd get none of them even into the end zone on the fly and would have to scrape shite out of his pants after the first few attempts. Hell, I'd bet they would whiff on ten and get 60 of them blocked.

Most top high school and collegiate swimmers if they specialize in the IM could easily swim under 5 minutes. Worlds fastest is 4:03.08 done by Michael Phelps in Beijing.

I've been up against low 90s in high school. Straight fastballs....i know I can hit one before I'd do half the other things on the list....so therefore it's easy comparatively.

High school swimmers just to get a A cut time is a 4:32. That is to qualify for state.

It's always funny how many baseball all stars we have on the OT. If an average Joe who hasn't seen live pitching in a few years stepped in the box against 95mph he ain't touching it.

My vote goes for the FG. It's such a specialty that even the great kickers have trouble from 50yds against a rush.

With the fastball, serve, and PK you would luck into a few out of every 1000. No specified height for the pole vault makes it the easiest. 4 hour marathon is a joke for anyone who isn't obese or handicapped--Oprah's fat arse got under 4:30. 50 yd field goal and sub 5:00 IM (I'm not 100% on how many high school kids do the IM in that time, I feel like the field goal might occur less frequently) are probably comparably rare--a few high schoolers each year can do it, and it's not something you'll luck into. If we're talking consistently hitting a fastball or returning a serve, it's a different conversation.

If you were a decent HS player in baseball, you can hit a 95 mph fastball. Especially a 4 seamer when you know its coming. That honestly may be the easiest. Or returning a serve. Getting off the couch and running a marathon would nearly kill everyone that doesnt specifically train for it. Second would be kicking a field goal. Not many human beings can kick a ball that far.

You are looking at SCY.

LCM A time is 5:17.29

It all depends on the circumstances.

Is this like someone shows up at a random door and asks the person inside to perform the feats or do you have time to train?

Because right now I have a better chance of hitting a 95 mph fastball than running a 4 hour marathon but given a few months training that would be totally opposite.

Under 5:00 was the poster time. If this is short-course, then there are thousands and thousands of clubs boys and girls who do this easily. If LC, then OK, thats about a AAA time in 15-16 men and in a smaller, select quantity.

I know it's subjective, but what about a hole in one in golf?

What the frick are you talking about? I swam and coach now and there are plenty who break this time. Even if we are talking LCM, breaking 5:00 is only a AAA time. There are at least several who can do this is LA.

I thought it was consensus that hitting a baseball was the hardest thing in sports.

But nobody here is kicking a 50 yarder in game.

I just looked at SwimmingRank. Granted, I was just looking at 17-18 boys.

A kid from Shreveport swam it in 4:58 and change on May 19. 2nd fastest Louisiana time is 5:01 and change. SWIMS may have more up to date numbers, but I like the ease of SwimmingRank.

And watch your mouth.

ETA: Just looked at 15-16 boys and there are two more. One from NOLA, one from Baton Rouge. Both are faster than the Shreveport kid referenced above. But that is three out of how many swimmers? And that's after years of training. Off the street with barely any training and I'd be impressed for someone to finish the 400 IM, much less break 5:00.

People are underestimating the 50 yard field goal. 50 yards is waaaaay farther than you think to kick a football, especially since you have to get it through the uprights. The vast majority of people are physically incapable of kicking a football that far
