The longest "waiting on weather" I've ever experienced is of the southern coast of Argentina, and that includes the north sea, Norwegian continental shelf, and barrents sea.

I've heard some horror stories about how rough it was in the North Sea from some old timers. Back in the 60s and 70s a lot of "down the bayou" men worked out there laying pipeline.
