Johnny Cash was legally just J. R. Cash, but when he joined the USAF he had to have an actual first name, not initials, so he used John, which was what his mom wanted to name him to begin with

Fun fact: He was stationed in Japan in a unit tasked with monitoring Russian radio transmissions. He was on duty the night Stalin died and is thought to be the first Westerner to learn of it.

4 pages and no one has mentioned Stalin?

Born Josef Dzhugashvili. He was Georgian by birth, not Russian. When he became a revolutionary (and bank robber) he wanted a menacing name . In Russian, Stalin means “steel”.

Voltaire:

Born François-Marie Arouet in 1694, he adopted the name "Voltaire" in 1718. The pseudonym is believed to be an anagram of "Arouet le jeune" (Arouet the younger), with some letters altered. Voltaire used this name to separate his literary work from his personal life, especially given the controversial nature of some of his writings.

Serious question: what was with people naming their kids initials back then?

I know a family that loves that shite:

RJ
LJ
EJ
AJ

I have no idea if those are initials or their names. It seems like their names.
