The knee jerk reaction I think is younger generations bc it has created insecure, worried, unhealthy kids...

But what about all the old people who have been scammed out of their money?

What about the boomers who think all the AI posts are real?

What about the middle age people who have fallen into the propaganda wormholes?

What about the 38 year old divorcees who think they have to tan their bungholes just to keep up?

Was social media the influence that drove you to making shitty threads everyday?

i think gen alpha is gonna rebel hard against social media and smartphones in general

my grandkids have to watch their grandparents sit and just scroll on Facebook mindlessly while on vacation (drives me crazy)…young people never want to do what their grandparents thing is “cool”

I bet they will think real camera, real developed photos, taking trips and not showing anyone, going to concerts with just friends, etc. will become “cool” again and people who use social media will be considered old/unpopular

as far as OP question, I think 25-35ish are by far the most addicted to it and it hurts their life experiences and live life through a phone screen and constantly compare themselves to others which steals joy in life 24/7/365

Those 35-45 kind of knew life before it and joined the platforms when they started (potentially hurt by having dumb high school photos) and older people got on Facebook and turned them into virtual high school class reunions which got them addicted, but they are using to stay connected to friends as they age so it’s not all bad.

Millennials are likely in the best spot. We know how to use the technology and also understand the scams.

Gen Z without a doubt. Lines up when smart phones and Instagram/Tik Tok took off. Read The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt. He lays it all out how screwed that generation is because of social media.

I’d argue not only is it social media in itself, it’s also leading to all kinds of sexual dysfunction due to the nonstop selling of sex to our men.

I cannot log into Facebook or YouTube without them throwing some girls butt in my face.

I was caught up in social media a good bit, albeit I was single, but deactivated all of my accounts a couple yrs ago now.

I feel like I miss out on seeing some things my friends are experiencing, and that I’m generally unaware of anything going on outside of my bubble of my family and what I hear at work.

That being said, not giving a frick what other people think about me helps me enjoy my life a little more.

It's *that kind* of mom of any generation. Their toxicity driven by social media infects their entire family in one way or another. Keeping up with the Jonses extends beyond your block/family and to every other mom in the world.

The one thing that it’s done worst of all has affected some more than most, but affected us all really and that’s what it has done to social interactions IRL. People can’t disagree without being disagreeable, and prefer to look at their phone and type words to someone rather than talk to the person in front of them with their face hole. You see it constantly while people are in a room together preferring to look at their phone than be social with those around them. This has in my observations over my time on this planet made people weird and if it weren’t for the fact that human beings are social creatures by nature, it may not be so detrimental, but it has affected interactions and the manner in which many struggle with them in daily life.

I'll bet you can't wait until lifelike sexbots become a commodity item.

Sounds like social media doesn't make you any smarter. How people define wisdom needs a major overhaul.

the easy answer is zoomers who had it pretty much their whole life but still early enough in its creation that parents didn't know how harmful it is

on the other hand, a bunch of boomers believed Q. stormed the capital and ended up in jail so it is hard to say because those are pretty real consequences
