Which form of radio security did you have?

I missed the pull-out radio phase and was fortunate to have the advanced technology of the detachable face.

Had that later on to go along with the Alpine CVA 1005

Detached face with a pocket carry case for it
I miss the era of custom audio in cars. The speakers in most cars today are dogshit and streaming music is mostly poor quality.
I have a terabyte hardrive plugged into my truck for high quality music but the speakers and output suck.

I remember the first radio I put into my first truck with a JVC chameleon. It didn't have the detachable face. It was supposed to look like the face was missing. Good memories.

Detachable face FTW. Had color changing knob lights too

Both. Pull-out with an 8-disk CD changer in the back (under hatch). Later graduated to detachable face plate head unit.

Detachable face.
Us serious audiophile baws called it a 'head unit'

I had a removable face in 1995 when I put an aftermarket Pioneer radio and speakers in my 1977 Impala. But I never removed it, it was just a feature that came with it at Hi-Fi buys.
It was my first ever check I wrote, my parents took me to the bank to open a checking account a few weeks prior. Check number 001. I actually fricked it up and the sales guy said "oh, first check? you did it wrong, write another one" so technically check 001 was never cashed, it was check 002.

I worked in a car stereo shop my sophomore year of college. It was a good time and I had some cool stuff for cheap. The Alpine CVA with the DVD bypassed to work while driving and some Polk Momo 10s and Apline everything else. It was yet another reason that being born in the late 70s or 80s and being a teen in the 90s was the best timeline.

Just say you couldn't afford a cool aftermarket radio and move on. We won't laugh at you
