Southerner's have a rep for slavery and for some reason the way native California's were treated seems to be ignored. But reading what California did to natives was brutal. I guess you can't ask for freedom if they kill you.

Which act carries a harsher criminal penalty: homicide or kidnapping?

Don't blame autocorrect for you being lazy and illiterate.

So you're singling out the genocide against native americans in Cali and pretending the same shite didn't happen all across N America?

The treatment of Chinese Immigrants working on railroads was slavery once they got out of the cities. Management would let them leave/runaway but was most certain death from exposure in the desert or mountains.
They were beaten, barely fed, and left for dead often while building transcontinental railroads in The US and Canada.

California's genocide killed around 16,000 Native Americans. I would assume slavery killed a lot more.

They were both terrible and I truly wish had not happened.

But I assure you I had nothing to do with either.

No. Well informed on the trail of tears. This event doesn't get the pub as what happened back east. I didn't know how the native Mexicans were treated.

Maybe, but I'm wary of just assuming that.

There is no getting around the brutality of chattel slavery, but at the very least, there is a concern for preservation of property. Now whether or not you want to include unintentional deaths through labor conditions is something to consider.

Valid point. I cannot find any data on the topic. I know roughly 300k finally landed in the US. A staggering 10.5 million more in the Caribbean and SA. Brazil being the worst offender.
